Too bad it didn't work out for her. The way it was being billed before she tried out seemed legit but yeah....Sounds like a sham here.

      So...

Since when has the Franchise Tag "Rule" been changed to allow multiple years of tagging in a row of the same player?

It always has, as far as I know, just the value of the tag increases each year to the point that tagging a guy more than two years in a row isn't economically feasible.

There have been some player-specific deals where the team agrees not to franchise tag the player next year in exchange for the player signing the tag contract; that's more the exception than the rule by my understanding, however.

I thought they made it so you couldnt franchise a guy two years in a row during the bargaining agreement. Or maybe I heard a rumor about that last year during that time.

No, the rule is exclusive = average of 5 year salaries (this is what was changed during bargaining) or 120% of current contract - whichever is greater. 2nd year tag = 120% of previous salary. 3rd year tag = 144% of previous salary.

From my understanding, you're only suppose to be able to tag someone once.. and then they become unrestricted the following year if you don't sign them long-term.

There was talk about the named players in the labor suit receiving exemptions from being tagged - that never happened.

That sounds about right, but I believe the third tag entitles a player to the QB-level tender.

Good riddance, he was never the same after busted for PEDs. Too bad he ended Priest Holmes' career prior to getting caught.

Amen to that. I wonder if he's gonna cry some more if someone does his "lights out" dance now that he's retired?

I still remember being called homer/biased, among other things, for arguing Ware over Merriman back in the day.

Don't know if this has been posted but.... Interesting read.

How Roger Goodell made the NFL bigger, richer and more powerful -- and now more divided -- than ever before.
