I can totally understand where this kind of thinking comes from. But I can't believe it's the actually Texans doing this. Could it be their fan base? I think that's probably the most likely angle. It would be really hard to connect the dots back to the very team trying to get something in return for him if they are truly trying to trade him. Burning him like this doesn't make sense from the Team point of view. They burn him. His trade value drops. Then they cut him. To be picked up by another team for nothing. Doesn't add up.

I'd hold on to him as long as possible if I were the Texans. I'd let the court system work through it's process. Maybe 8 games and then try to trade him. If not then cut him. Since he doesn't want to play. Does anyone know the details of his current contract? Like what kind of money kicks in if he stays past a certain point.

I don’t see why someone within the org would do that. Only serves to hurt them — less trade value, or the contract gets voided and you get nothing for him.

Unless the goal is to just make him look bad and everything else stays the same. And given that franchise’s decisions over the last couple years... I wouldn’t put it past them trying to get even just to do it.

We’ve been through so many incidents now that we won’t have any closure to this for a good while. It’s rare a player is totally ousted even for heinous acts they did actually commit, so I’d expect Watson to be playing at least most of next season. Might catch a short suspension just for the issue being so public now. That’s just how it goes now, on all fronts.

He doesn’t get anything but base salary until 2023. If this drags out in to the season and he was planning on not showing up if they don’t trade home there is the potential risk of the league putting him on the commissioner’s exempt list and then they’d be forced to pay him which would be an odd twist for a holdout

I don’t think a holdout is something that qualifies someone for the exempt list.

Edit: nevermind, I assume you are talking about the new off the field stuff.

Yeah you're right bro the Texans are intentionally tanking his trade value.

            Good thinking.

Steelers allowing starting CB Nelson to seek out trade offers. Would save about 8 mil but would make the defense worse. Also puts CB high on the draft needs.

JuJu is back on a one year deal.

                This is why it's bizarre.

Now there's a total of nine suits against him in like what, 2 weeks?

All of this happened in 2 months.

It just strikes me as odd.

Sucks that Eagles cap situation is so bad. Only one outside signing which is likely just a STer. So many of these Defensive FAs are taking 1 year cheap deals that could plug up big needs short team and would allow us to draft best available in the draft. Would have love to gone after guys at the LB, CB, and Safety spot.

Least we have 11 picks, I just have no trust in Howie Roseman ability to draft. It's like he doesn't follow a draft board. He keys in on certain players and over drafts them if he has too.

Juju took a huge play cut. 8 million for one year.... Jeeez

I think of those Tory Brown years. When the Pats would cut him. Then sign him back for cheap. Then he'd lead them in receiving lol

                        Re: NFL Off Topic

I can understand why the WR market is dry. After the top 2 were tagged, there were no true WR1 left. Unless you were looking for a specific role player, it's best to go after a WR in the draft instead of paying one of them WR1 money. I wouldn't want to pay Golladay WR1 money after coming off an injury.

WR is almost becoming the new RB. Where you can always find a guy in the 2-4 round range. But, WR value won't likely drop as low as RB. True WR1s will still get good deals and I still feel a lot more goes into WR success early on than RB. Even as a Eagles fan, I don't think guys like Jefferson and Metcalf would have had the same success with the Eagles. Eagles in the last decade has had an issue with developing young players (outside of Line and TE). Almost isn't logical to sign a RB to a big second contract. The best years you're getting from RBs are years 2-6. Messed up, but tag them twice after rookie deal and let them walk after that. A RB’s play can fall of a cliff fast once they get so many miles put on. I wouldn't even draft a RB high in first round. Even for a guy like Saquan. If you're a rebuilding team, the RB’s best years will be wasted by time you become a contender. I'm only trying to draft a RB in the first is if it is in the bottom 6 and I feel I'm a good RB away from winning a title

The **** eating grin Roseman had on his face after saying there’s only 1 QB on the Eagles roster currently... LOL

There’s just too many stud WR they could grab at the 6 spot. The team isn’t flush anymore, they can’t be a QB factory because they need to develop so many other positions. I hope Roseman can balance developing today’s team with planning for the future. He hasn’t shown that yet, but this group could turn it around quick and realign his star.

Also, FWIW, I love Kenny Golladay. Totally seems like his career is gonna take off or he’s gonna be an all time FA bust, though.

For me, it's either Chase or Pitts or trade back couple spots and get Farley. I'm not that high Smith. I'm not sure he can be a WR1 in the NFL where most of the CBs will be 20-30 lbs heavier. If he had Judy's Route Running, I would be on board. I think he benefitted off of Waddle getting injured and having offense funneled through him. I think Chase has the best chance of being a WR1. But, he's not a guy I would draft top 5. Unless he is going to run a sub 4.45, I rather have him in the teens. If I'm drafting a WR top 5, I would want a Calvin Johnson or Julio type of WR. But, even then I'm not sure the value is there to draft a WR top 5 because of impact on game. I think last year's class pushed up this year's. I like last year's top 4 as prospects(Lamb, Jeudy, Jefferson, and Ruggs) compared to this year's top 4(Chase, Waddle, Smith, and Bateman)

I love that signing. Way better than I thought we would have done. I would've been happy taking a flyer on Hooker lol. You get a CB2, Vet LBs, and stay healthy and that defensive is a lot better
