But nobody knows what matchups will be good by then unless you just keep Thanksgiving open and flex teams into that day like a few weeks before but we all know that won’t happen.

You know Detroit won't be good and Dallas is a toss up. Their opponents usually are not great so it makes for bad games. The night games have usually been better.

You can't guarantee teams will be good but you could definitely schedule better than what they have now.

Dallas is also a draw, we all know that and we all know that’s what the league cares about.

The noon game is background noise and always will be regardless of they put on. They’re like the London Games to me.

But I still don’t see how this impacts the NFL negatively as far as TV goes, which is what I originally asked. So this is really more of a “I want something different just because” gripe(which to be fair, the poster I quoted mentioned that earlier).

By picking 3 of the 4 best teams from the previous year, you're definitely upping the odds quite a bit. Sure, **** happens. But you're both rewarding on field success with a prime time home game and almost certainly improving the product.
Bills, Sabres, Illini, Cubs, basically any team that abuses its fanbase and I'm there.

Vikings DE Everson Griffen made some disturbing posts on his Instagram last night, Vikings have mental health professionals at his house according to their statement.(link goes to PFT article) Wish him the best, mental health is no joke and it's a good sign that teams do have mental health professionals to help players. I hope he gets the support he needs.

I don't really care for NFL matchups on Thanksgiving (mostly just glad there is something to watch on TV), but to make it seem like NFL could never foresee what would be some possible good matchups ahead of time is silly.

No one wants to watch an important matchup with playoff implications with drunk family members that spend the entire time acting like they know better than the coach. Its kind of like watching a game with Romo commentating. If Romo was drunk and didn't know much about football.

It’s always easy to say 7 months out “Oh ****, we get Packers-Rams on Thanksgiving?! Hell yeah!” and then the season plays out and key guys get hurt, both teams stink and then y’all are complaining loudly on here and Twitter about how they should’ve gotten better teams or flexes them out(that’s a different argument)because it would feature two garbage teams.

I’m still waiting to find out how the product on that day in particular is suffering now.

Any type of proof/evidence is all I’m asking for and I can be swayed.

We can talk about what we want personally, but there is zero business logic for the NFL to have so-so games on Thanksgiving. It's a spotlight day for the NFL, and having everyone come out of it underwhelmed and disappointed by the matchups is not good. Somehow the NBA magically manages to get it right on Xmas.

Of course injuries could occur, but even without injuries a Lions vs. Bears is likely to be trash. It is about probabilities, unless you think all matchups this week had the same probabilities of being awful/good, on that case you can assign games to Thanksgiving randomly. Because according to you scheduling Lions/Bears and Packers/Rams have the same probability of being awful because "hey, injuries" so lets just go with the objectively more awful matchup because ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

What a weird hill to die on.

Put in another way, you can schedule Packers/Rams for Thanksgiving.

If everyone is healthy is probably a great matchup, if Stafford or Rodgers (or other important players on either side) get injured its still a better matchup than Lions/Bears (probably, lets leave a chance for the Bears being good on a random year) and if both Stafford/Rodgers die on a train accident then you tip your hat to the entropy gods knowing you are probably not any worse than with a Lions/Bears game.

Again, such a weird hill to die on.

And even then, if both Stafford and Rodgers die you can unofficially name the game the Sad Bowl which would be more interesting than Lions/Bears (the Awful Bowl).

When football is on, people want it to be entertaining. That's it. Aint no need for any deep dives or other ****.
