At&t owns that for this year but it's up for grabs next year.

Yeah, this is just re-branded and rejiggered Game Pass (in fact they still have Game Pass in other markets) now that they have the mobile rights back in house.

Next year the whole landscape may look very different when it comes to streaming any NFL content based on the result of the Sunday Ticket deal since it may include NFL+ and other media.

Hmm, I wonder if using ExpressVPN to change my location would therefore change my market. If I live in California but wanted to watch a Giants game, could I conceivably switch my VPN to New York and that is what I would then have access to?

Either way, my primary interest on Sunday is RedZone, with a select few games here and there (plus SNF). I'm more in for Sunday Ticket anyway. Not to mention I already have cable.

This does not work on mobile devices. The apps will ignore the IP and force you to turn on GPS.

On a non-mobile device, you should be able to use a CBS/Fox login with VPN to get local games. I did this last year using a Fire Stick, Torguard, and my father's Xfinity password. The issue is that Torguard only has a limited number of locations, so you may be out of luck if it's not in one of those markets.
Bills, Sabres, Illini, Cubs, basically any team that abuses its fanbase and I'm there.

Glad to see Cliff Branch finally get into the HOF....long overdue, and they should have done it when he was alive. He was just as money as the other great WRs of his era. And it's a crime Joe Klecko isn't in.

There are ways around it but not unless you are running custom roms.

There will be a ton of public outcry and I wonder if that sways Goodell to appeal and drop the hammer, but I think 6 is reasonable.

I completely disagree, 6 games is a joke.

I'm trying not to compare to previous punishments under the policy as the process has changed. I'm sure if this was under Goodell, we are 1-2 seasons.

And, goes without saying, this isn't to excuse any of his actions.

It will be interesting to see how Goodell handles this. He has three days to alter the suspension and with all the backlash already coming in I could see him doing something reactionary

I think they run from this. I think publicly they will say they disagree vehemently with the ruling but will respect the ruling by the independent arbitrator.

It is bad when compared to other suspensions for other actions, which is hard to separate even if things have changed. So what if the NFL tacks on another 4-6 games, does that really change things? I’m not sure. He sat out all of last season too, so this was effectively ~1.33 seasons (23 games) of not playing in the prime of his career. That’s significant.

6 games was around what I thought he would get, so I’m not shocked by it coming down that way. He’ll serve his time and have to carry around this label, and some people will never let him forget it. For me, the league has handed down punishment, the rest is being decided or settled in the courts and I’ll move on. Nothing more to do.

The suspension ruling from Judge Robinson details that Deshaun Watson was neither placed on the exempt list nor was his salary withheld during such time. Robinson concludes based on these facts that Watson was in fact not suspended, only that the Texans chose to not play him.

To that end, Robinson gives Watson no credit for prior suspension served when she determined discipline, because he wasn’t suspended.

My general impression of Judge Robinson’s ruling is that it is careful, speaking to legality. She is bound by the case facts presented to her, and also by the NFL’s well-established disciplinary precedent. Given specifically those factors, six games was likely the only possible conclusion.

I actually find it a bit refreshing that some entity has offered the NFLPA a meager check against the NFL league office’s unilateral power to impose its will upon the players. At the same time, I also acknowledge that it is extremely terrible optics that Deshaun Watson of all people was what triggered that counterweight.
