Re: NFL Off Topic 2012
Yeah if i'm going to a game i'd prefer it to be a dome, but that's only after experiencing multiple games at Sun Life in Sept/Oct. Though after experiencing the student section at FSU games I don't really have much desire to attend NFL games until i'm 21 though lol.Saints, LSU, Seminoles, Pelicans, Marlins, LightningComment

Re: NFL Off Topic 2012
So are you saying that Baseball Stadiums give their teams a bigger advantage than a team playing at their stadium in any other sport(College Included)?#RespectTheCultureComment

Re: NFL Off Topic 2012
If they build their team properly around the stadium dimensions and characteristics, yes I would say that is true.badComment

Re: NFL Off Topic 2012
Ok, the question then becomes...how do you prove that?
How do you prove that playing at say...Petco Park gives the Padres a bigger advantage than the Seahawks playing at Qwest Field?
Or that playing at Camden Yards gives the Orioles a bigger advantage than say...LSU playing at Death Valley?#RespectTheCultureComment

Re: NFL Off Topic 2012
Yeah I don't see how baseball stadiums give home teams bigger advantages then in football. Dimensions for baseball team can work for both team and I don't believe the crowd in baseball is nearly that big of a deal as it is in football.
Like PPM said I'd be way more worried about playing LSU @ Death Valley then the O's at Camden Yards, etc. if I was an opposing team. If were talking strictly stadium and not the fans as well then maybe it's a different story.
Edit: Also while the dimensions are the same, all stadiums are not created equal for football. Speed/footing can be different whether it's artificial turf or not. Is it a smaller dome or not, for example teams probably would prefer to play the Cowboys in Dallas rather then the Saints in the SuperdomeLast edited by Chrisksaint; 05-01-2013, 10:50 PM.Saints, LSU, Seminoles, Pelicans, Marlins, LightningComment

Stadiums themselves (outside of baseball, since the dimensions can affect a game) don't give any advantage/disadvantage as much as us sports fans would like to believe it. I think the best study I have ever read on it is the fact that the home field advantage boils down to the psychological effect the home town fans have on the ref. The refs/umps/etc are more likely to have a call that could go either way unconsciously go towards the home team.
Another way to do this is to look at how large warning tracks can be can throw off outfielders of other teams. If they are used to a small warning track, all of a sudden they play a game with a large one and their natural rhythm they hit when they get to the warning track ("Ok, I have 2 steps until the fence") can get thrown off.badComment

Re: NFL Off Topic 2012
Hell just look at the yankees using their stadium to their advantage. Short porch in right? Sign every power hitting left hander in sight lol.
I wish the Tigers would build their team to suit Comerica's vast outfield, but I won't complain about Cabrera, Fielder, and company.
I guess in football it comes down to how loud your fans are and how it gives a lift to the home players. But in baseball you can actually sign/draft/trade for players whose skill set fits that ballparks dimensions best, and utilize that advantage 81 times a year.Last edited by l3ulvl; 05-02-2013, 12:07 AM.Wolverines Wings Same Old Lions Tigers Pistons Erika ChristensenComment

Eagles safety Colt Anderson has posted the basic details on Twitter: quarterback Mike Vick and running back LeSean McCoy raced in practice on Thursday, and Vick won.
Eagles safety Colt Anderson has posted the basic details on Twitter: quarterback Mike Vick and running back LeSean McCoy raced in practice on Thursday, and Vick won.
But there’s more to the story, which we’ve obtained from a league source with knowledge of the situation.
McCoy had been riding Vick for weeks, calling him “old man” and challenging Vick to a footrace. Vick had been laughing it off, until today.
Today, Vick had enough. So he asked coach Chip Kelly if he could accept McCoy’s invitation. Kelly agreed.
So they lined up and took off, and Vick didn’t just beat McCoy. Vick smoked McCoy by roughly five yards, and their teammates went nuts.
It has no direct relevance to the fate of the 2013 Eagles, but it proves that the “old man” can still move, which is bad news for any defense facing him this year.Originally posted by bradtxmaleI like 6 inches. Its not too thin and not too thick. You get the support your body needs.

Re: NFL Off Topic 2012
I agree. It makes for a great story line, and it is fun for fans to talk about the mystique of certain venues. But I don't believe certain stadiums provide any more of a home field advantage than any another stadium does. The toughest place to play are the places where the best teams play. The Packers dominated 60's and built a reputation for being unbeatable at home in the playoffs. But in recent years with a less dominating team, they have lost home playoff games. A few years back, The Swamp was a tough place to play....until the Gators dropped of a bit....suddenly not so tough to win at the Swamp.....I don't think the Stadium has changed to cause that drop off.Comment
