I feel like it would be foolish for any players to want Glennon starting over Freeman now unless they want to tank already.
We've seen what Freeman is and isn't. There's no reason to not see what Glennon can and can't do. I'm not sure how you call it foolish when no one has seen him play a meaningful game.

Wow... so it sounds like the players think the organization/staff rigged the captaincy vote to take the C away from Freeman?

        Crazy, pathetic, and sad.

At least that's how I read it. Hopefully it's just a normal players only meeting trying to get the guys more focused for their upcoming games against New Orleans and New England.
I love that Tampa looks like they're in disarray after 1 game.

Not a fan of NFL Network shortening NFL Replay down to an hour instead of the usual 90 minutes.

For those that care NFL game rewind is offering a free trial through 9/16, and they have just updated the games, so for those that care you may be able to watch the all-22 of Chip Kelly's offense now. Or your favorite team w/e.

I'm saying from the players' perspective, it makes no sense. The players obviously want to win. It doesn't take much effort to realize that the guy that led them a year ago and broke every Tampa passing record is probably better than the guy that was horribly inconsistent in college and then followed it up with struggling a good amount in the preseason against vanilla defenses for this season. Maybe Glennon develops some day and turns into a QB, but most players want to win. I'd hope our players are the same way.

I haven't seen Glennon do anything to suggest he's ready to play in the NFL right now. We've at least seen Freeman go through stretches like the one last year where he had 11 TDs to 1 INT for 4 or 5 games. If not for his collosal collapse the last couple of games, we probably wouldn't have complained about him at all.

I think most of the guys playing alongside them would probably agree that Freeman gives them the best chance to win. Maybe if he comes out and has another one of those stretches like the last couple games a year ago, and we go into the bye week 0-4, then maybe we consider switching.

If we end up floundering and end up with a top 10 pick, I really hope that we do what it takes to get Bridgewater or Boyd, and that we don't go into next season with Glennon as the most likely starter on the team. I just don't think he has it at all personally.

Also... wow. Goldson was fined for his shoulder to chest hit on Cumberland, and even worse, Lavone David was fined for pushing Geno Smith out of bounds.

Apparently Clay Matthews hasn't been fined yet though?

I think Lavonte was punished enough for that hit. A fine on top of losing the game for your team? Damn.

I can't find anything that says it's mandatory, but looking at the list of fines, there's been a lot of them for unnecessary roughness for the same amount David was fined.

Matthews will get his, don't worry. It's not like he'll get suspended so there isn't a rush.

                            #ClayMatthewsHeelTurn2013

Matthews met the media on Thursday and got the expected questions about his thoughts regarding Harbaugh’s comments. Matthews avoided most of them by saying he only wanted to answer questions about this week’s game against Washington, but eventually broke down and gave a little bit more.

“I’m an awesome player, I’m not a dirty player,” Matthews said.

Matthews cited his “pretty good” resume when it came to league discipline to back up his belief and wouldn’t say whether he’d been fined by the league office, which confirms all the fines of the week on Friday. It would be a surprise if Matthews’ name wasn’t on the list, the hit was a flagrant foul whether Matthews is a dirty player or not, which would mark the third time in his career that he’s received a fine.

Watching Matthews smirk while delivering his retort will probably ruffle some feathers in San Francisco, although the lack of another regular season game between the two teams probably means things will remain at a low simmer until they meet again. If that happens to be in this year’s playoffs, there should be plenty of fireworks from both sides.
