Re: NFL Off Topic
It's cute to armchair quarterback somebody's reaction to being bullied, but is not at all surprising to see considering how heavy our culture likes to pour on the victim blaming.

Re: NFL Off Topic
No official link or source has come out saying this is the case but there are a few out there that do say it's the case but it's nothing all that credible.
Even Mike and Mike eluded to it this morning but also refused to actually talk about it because it hasn't been officially disclosed.
Truth be told it was the first thing I thought about after more of this story came out so I googled it and got enough hits that I believe it to be the case.Comment

Re: NFL Off Topic
Because its complete horse ****. Bullying has nothing to do with generations and some generations being able to stand up for themselves better than other generations. Bullying isn't some new age thing that's affecting the younger generation SO MUCH WORSE than it used to. Some kids can stand up for themselves easier than other kids and it goes the same for adults. Its easy to sit back and say "Stand up for yourself you ****ing *****" but when you are in the situation and going through what he was probably going through, its doubtful that it was just Incognito that was doing this kind of stuff to him, it's not as easy to sit there and say stand up for yourself.
Standing up for himself might have had some ostracized in the locker room, it might not have worked, it might have made it even worse, if the situation got to a certain point it could have a serious impact on his career and his future with the team.
What I don't get, is my general opinion has been for him or anyone else getting bullied to stand up for themselves. Now, if he did and nothing happens, understood. But if you guys are saying MAYBE he didn't because of fear of some sort of retaliation, how can he be excused? I'm not defending Incognito at all. Or his the rest of his teammates. But if you are getting bullied and you don't do everything in your means to get help, why should anyone feel sorry for you? Closed mouths don't get fed. People have the power over you that you allow. That's my mindset, agree or disagree.
Again, if he went to get help and it was looked over, than all of this post is moot. I just have a difficult time believing he did everything in his power to get help, other than just leave. How many of you have just left you job because you were bullied?

I may or may not agree with how a person handles the situation, but I'm not going to act like I would know exactly what to do and place responsibility on their shoulders for being put into that situation. The right way doesn't always present itself accordingly especially when hindsight is 20/20.

Re: NFL Off Topic
It seems to me that there wasn't a lot of trust in the leadership of that organization for Martin to come forward.
I believe, sadly, Incognito was a part of the leadership council on that team as well.
That brings up another issue with this particular situation, bullying in general, and really a lot of similar issues; when the aggressor is a well respected or powerful individual, or holds some type of leadership position, it's certainly not going to make it any easier to come forward.

Re: NFL Off Topic
That's pretty pathetic that the Dolphins have Incognito on a leadership council if that's true, seriously with his past and his issues he should be among the last people you want leading anyone even prior to this story coming to light.Favorite Teams:
NCAA- University of Illinois Fighting Illini
NFL- Cleveland Browns
MLB- St. Louis Cardinals
NBA- Boston Celtics
NHL- Chicago Blackhawks

Re: NFL Off Topic
Shiz I know people who have changed their careers because of the **** they had to deal with in the workplace. Doesn't mean I have to question them. I dont care how a victim reacts; I care about what happened to them. Its easy to say what a man should or shouldnt have done in any scenario as a outside observer.
Richie Incognito shouldn't have been a complete ******* to someone he called a teammate. If Martin never left, he would continue to be targeted. So he did something right as Incognito is now suspended and has the team and league investigation up his *** at the moment.Comment
