Tampa Bay Buccaneers cornerback Eric Wright has been arrested in Los Angeles for investigation of driving under the influence after police say he was involved in a crash near Staples Center.

LOS ANGELES -- Tampa Bay Buccaneers cornerback Eric Wright was arrested in Los Angeles on Monday for investigation of driving under the influence after police said he was involved in a crash near Staples Center.

The incident occurred about 12:20 a.m. PDT several blocks away from the Staples Center when the Mercedes SLS that Wright was driving rear-ended a pickup truck, said police officer Karen Rayner. The driver of the truck had unspecified injuries.

According to the Los Angeles Times, the 26-year-old Wright told officers he had been drinking earlier in the night at a friend's house and refused to take a Breathalyzer test and field sobriety test.

Wright, who wasn't injured, refused to take sobriety tests, authorities said. He was booked for investigation of felony DUI and bail was set at $100,000. It was not immediately known if he had posted bail.
So how many DUIs will it take by professional athletes to get the commissioners of each league to hand out punishments for this recurring theme

Problem is most either have great attorneys and get the charges dropped or they take a plea bargain with probation.

I wish there was a harsher penalty from the Commishioner on these. Driving under the influence is dangerous and was get me more fired up is they have a sober driver program for most professional sports. Just make the call and get a safe ride home.

      End of my venting.

NFLPA ended the NFL's drive you home program. Millionaires need to learn how to call a cab.

Any DUI event should be half a season automatically, felonies more (12 games?) and any involving injury a full season, and require you to apply for reinstatement.

That makes WAY too much sense to ever happen though

Owners have granted permission for the league to place microphones on certain players so that fans can hear on-field commentary via an in-the-work app that would distribute raw feeds. That is a privilege previously awarded only to networks holding broadcast rights.

You know say what you want about Ocho, or whatever he's calling himself these days, for his disappointing play, his reality shows or his foul mouth on Twitter, but it's the things like that which truly define him. That kindness needs to rub off.

I mentioned that he was the new coach there in the neighborhood off-topic awhile back. Nice to see him there though, that school really does need the pick-me-up (as do pretty much all the Tacoma Schools). The weight room equipment he bought cost $150,000. Much needed for them.

Didn't know they ended that programs but I agree they can still call a cab.

And I completely agree on the suspensions for felony but you will never see that happen.
