Trestman runs a great system for him (quick drops with a good OL meaning he's getting very little pressure) and he has two WRs that make it even easier - but he's been feasting on terrible defenses.
And that Ravens game looks like an outlier of sorts, but it was played in a tornado. I do give McCown some credit though... but he should remain a back up.

I wish the Bears just played games on closed circuit TV to their fans at noon every week.

Yeah, I'm not trying to take anything away from him. He's played very very well and the coaching has done a fantastic job with their gameplan around him for the most part.

I just think this whole 'Cutler-or-McCown' discussion is a silly thing to be having on the level it has reached... but hey! If the Bears front office wants to take heed of it, they'll make the rest of the NFC North very happy.

All this bitching and complaining about a cold weather Super Bowl is stupid to me. It's football. No reason cold weather cities that make the NFL a **** load of money shouldn't be able to host a Super Bowl.

And if you know Chicago's history when it comes to QBs, prior to Cutler it hasn't been pretty. And the one thing he's been able to provide there is stability at a position that they didn't have in the last 10-15 years.
This is exactly why I think they should let Cutler walk.

It's all about the suits. The Super Bowl hasn't been a game for the fans since 92 when Fox stole a bunch of viewers during halftime so in 93 the NFL got Jacko to perform, blowing it up into a marketer's wet dream.

I agree with you, but sadly thats just the way it is.

Except that the Defense isn't going to get better just because they let him walk either. Whatever his contract will be, will not prevent from the Bears from use the Draft to get players that'll improve their Defense and it won't prevent them from getting the Defensive Coach they want to spearhead that improvement either.

American Football gained IOC recognition. Could become and Olympic sport in 2024 (at the earliest).

                  Link

At best, this would probably be neutered a bit like Rugby will be when it's played at the next Olympics to try to make it more competitive.

Idc if the defenses have been bad, McCown is still playing pretty damn well. I know Bears fans didn't expect him to play this well. If it was that simple, we'd see other backups doing the same. You can also still turn the ball over to bad defenses. He hasn't. As someone said earlier, I think people are still enamored with Cutler's potential. He's gonna be 31; how long we gonna keep holding on to that?

What defenses has Cutler faced and what were his stats? Would be good for a comparison.

                          There are his game logs.

Won at home against Cincy leading a 4th quarter comeback. Took a while to get going.
Won at home against Minnesota leading a 4th quarter comeback after turning the ball over a couple times.
Won at Pittsburgh. Wasn't asked to do much.
Lost at Detroit. Pretty bad game. Was harrassed a lot by the Lions pass rush. Put up numbers late to make it look like a respectable score.
Lost at home against New Orleans. Numbers, but who cares about stats when the team loses?
Won at home against the Giants. Good game.
                          Incomplete game against Washington.
Played on one leg against the Lions at home. Should not have been starting.

To answer your question, Shiz. I see in Cutler the best quarterback the Bears have had since I started watching the team.

What I see from Cutler >>>>>>>>>> spending 2 decades looking for someone else.

It has nothing to do with potential. But I don't think anyone will disagree that he puts them in a better position to succeed than a 35 y/o journeyman who's already hit his ceiling and that one could say his current performance is going to be the exception and not the rule.

But we'll see in the Offseason what his value really is if teams coming knocking on McCown's door for starting job or a backup job.

I just think it's crazy to voluntarily move on from what seems to be one of the better starter/backup situations in the league. What do the Bears end up with then? AJ McCarron and Matt Schaub? Excuse me if I don't sound too excited about that.

I actually think it's more likely McCown is traded than the Bears get rid of Cutler.
