    Re: NFL Off Topic

This was an interesting read. This guy goes through and grades every announcing crew. Worst crew is Chris Myers/Tim Ryan.

Ryan had some noteworthy nonsensical statements as well. He doesn't know when to use "well" vs. "good" ("they play good in December"). I don't know what the phrase "play opportunities" means, but Ryan uses it a lot. He will surely be getting an angry telegram from Bob Costas for the phrase "Dansby shot his gun up inside there." I would be just fine if Tim never says "Pick-six house call touchdown" again. He also believes "People don't know J.J. Watt as a household name" and "[with] social media it's easy to forget how good Arian Foster has been." To begin a sentence with, "The problem with being down 14 points ..." sets the rest of the sentence up for failure. And, perhaps my favorite: "I'll tell ya, Seattle's gotta keep 'em out of the end zone in terms of a touchdown here." No, in terms of bunnies. Seattle has to keep them out of the end zone in terms of bunnies. OF COURSE IN TERMS OF A TOUCHDOWN THAT'S THE ONLY WAY YOU GET INTO THE END ZONE DEAR GOD TIM RYAN.

Their defense is not as good as it was in the first half of the season, but I agree it's solid.

Also, absolutely agree that this year anyone can make a run at the SB, can't wait for the playoffs.

I'm of the opinion that Seattle is nearly unbeatable at home. The only way any team hopes to win is if Seattle starts off slow and it's scoreless halfway through the 1st quarter with no sense of momentum for either team. Otherwise, the fans are going to take over and it'll be nearly impossible to get anything done if you're the opponent.

BTW thanks to the guy with the NFL announcing crew grading. I'll be reading that link in a bit.

I don't see them beating Carolina or San Francisco and they'd only have a shot against Arizona. Particularly if it's Dallas, they aren't going anywhere in the playoffs.

SF worries me. Carolina and Arizona could fall. Especially given the playoff Experience with Carolina. Arizona may have a knock off shot but that is only if they sneak in

Have you seen the offense? It's not pretty.
While I do think Baltimore could knock either off, they seem to be heating up and playing their best at exactly the right time.

The reason I think Denver/New England are still the odds on favorite to re-match is just because of the intangibles at the QB position. Plus I don't really trust Cincinnati, Indianapolis, or KC to match up with either one. I don't see the Chiefs outscoring Denver, Colts have looked pretty bad in the 2nd half of the season, and Dalton has just been too up and down and that's not what you want to see from your QB going into the play offs.

With New England; their injuries do concern me but I think in the Playoffs Belichick just kicks it into a whole other gear and will scheme that Defense into success; and Brady will do just enough even with lack luster targets. (Hopefully guys like Dobson, Thompkins get healthy enough by then)

Yup and I agree that I just don't see how Seattle doesn't punch their ticket in for a SB with that Homefield advantage; and they're going to have to have a severe letdown game for it to happen; but if there are 2 teams that I think can even hang up there it would be those two. (GB,SF)

Just see Philly running into communication, procedural issues with their style of Offense in that crowd noise, we saw what happened when New Orleans went up there and they just aren't a good team on the road. Lynch would just run all over Chicago, and Dallas' Defenses. Don't think Carolina, Arizona have the QBs that can get it done against Seattle's Defense however they do have Defenses that could be stingy.

I don't blame you for not feeling Indy, Cincy, or KC as serious contenders. My feeling is anything could happen. Everyone is seriously flawed in one area.

As for New England. Sick and tired of Belichick and the word defense being bunched together. When was the last time New England had a good (not even great) defense. Bend don't break doesn't count.

The offense is a mess. Offensive line is banged up, receiving options has become a bunch of munchkins who can only run crossing routes. Only hope are two rookie wideouts that have had flashes. Nothing more. Don't take that as me discrediting the impact their return could have. It's just a whole lot of what if's and maybe's.
