    Re: NFL Off Topic

I wonder how much lobbying these players are subject to by college coaches, teammates, boosters, etc.

Leinart stayed because he liked college poon too much? Or as we found out, his head really wasn't into being a franchise QB (nor his arm).

Bradford and Barkley were fans of the college teams they played for since they were little kids, so they may have had this misguided loyalty to the schools, which were making millions off them while they worked for scholarships, a pittance compared to the revenues of the football program.

Teams in a position to draft these players must interview them, to see their mental approach to playing at the next level, why they decided to forego the draft. Unless their physical skills are so overwhelming that they can't pass on these players, they may look at players who demonstrate more hunger to play in the NFL.

How is staying in college going to make him face tougher competition than what he would face in he NFL?

That's the only reason I said it made no sense, once again, no reason to get so defensive....

        No one's getting defensive.

Once again, if he feels as though he's not ready and wants to try to play against tougher competition before jumping to the pros, it makes complete sense to stay and play a season in the ACC.

To clarify for others, he is stating that Bridgewater wants to play tougher competition prior to entering the NFL. Not that he in general wants tougher competition.

Not really. Pretty much makes sense to go to the NFL when you can.

NFL team will get him started right away on a training regimen to add some bulk to his frame, which he's going to need.

As well as to learn the pro game, of course.

I don't know much about college so I may be off base, but I'd love for the Texans to focus on the OL or defense at the top of the draft then take McCarron in the 3rd round or whatever.

I don't watch much college, but when I do it's usually games involving the best teams and I like what I've seen out of that guy.

Of course that's your opinion, just like it's my opinion he should stay.

We're going no where with this, so next discussion.

I don't care one way or the other lol.

One of your arguments was he was going to stay in college to face better competition.

I just don't understand how staying in college would be better competition that it would in the NFL. Not even sure how you could argue that.

You don't understand because you obviously not reading it right. Someone else has already made it as clear as they can for me, so again. Moving on.

He's saying he wants to face better competition BEFORE entering the NFL as his rationale to stay.

Edit: It's not like he's serious anyway. He'd be a fool to come back. Lip service at it's finest.

They have to make flags like this reviewable. Its impossible for defenders these days. This game was littered with ridiculous penalties on both sides.
At this rate we will be watching flag football instead of NFL football. I can see the headline: NFL BANS TACKLING

What's ironic is that Whittner got in a couple of helmet to helmet shots on some running plays in that game without being flagged.

Wonder if the NFL will fine him, as if to justify the flag on that play, the way they fined Ahmad Brooks for the hit on Brees.
