      Per PFT.com:

Tennessee Titans wide receiver O.J. Murdock committed suicide this morning in front of the Tampa high school he graduated from, according to the Tampa Police Department. He was 25 years old.
According to a news release distributed by the Tampa police, Orenthal James Murdock was found in his car at approximately 8:30 a.m. in front of Middleton High School. He had suffered an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound and was transported to Tampa General Hospital in critical condition.
Murdock was pronounced dead at 10:43 a.m.
After Murdock did not report to the Titans’ training camp last week, coach Mike Munchak said Murdock had been excused for “personal reasons.” No details have emerged of the issues that Murdock was dealing with.
An undrafted free agent who signed with the Titans out of Fort Hays State last year, Murdock missed the entire season with an Achilles injury. Murdock began his college career at South Carolina, where he played for two years and was a teammate of Kenny McKinley, a Denver Broncos wide receiver who committed suicide in 2010.

Sad news. The kid was only 25 years old. Too bad he was unable to receive the help he desperately needed.

            Re: NFL Off Topic 2012

I watched a bit of the NFL AM show this morning....There's definitely some good stuff in it but there's a lot of things that need to be retooled. One thing that I found VERY annoying is how everyone was more or less yelling. Well, they weren't yelling but speaking really loudly as if they think that's the way all morning shows are supposed to be. There was also a TON of cross talk which made it a bit hard to hear the points being made.

The two hosts weren't bad and Steve Wyche was his usual self but Mark Kriegel and Eric Davis need some work. It seems Kriegel is trying to be the stats guru and Eric Davis is trying to be the colorful type. Actually I think Davis looks like DL Hughley's older crazy brother LOL

Some of the segments were pretty good though the Double Coverage segment was phony as all hell as it seemed they were reading off a script but I did like the Figure of Speech segment which reminded me of what Jamie Dukes used to do early in his NFL-N career where he'd re-interpret comments made by players/coaches.

All in all the show has some promise. They do need to tone down the energy just a tad but it's nice to have some live football programming in the morning. This show has the potential to be extremely informative and fun on days after games have been played.

I liked the show. It was fun to watch, and while not everything was exactly news I'd like to see, it was entertaining. All I ask for from a show.

If you're like us, you're basking in the glow of the first NFL offseason in eons that hasn't featured any speculation about a Brett Favre comeback.

Favre is home in Hattiesburg, Miss., having traded in his jersey and football pants for a T-shirt and Wrangler jorts.

The legendary quarterback hasn't completely removed football from his life, however. Favre just started a gig as offensive coordinator for nearby Oak Grove High School.

                  Another one.

I think this was just depression unrelated to football injury, though maybe to the way he hasn't panned out I guess as an NFL player. Who knows, it's impossible to explain or make sense of mental disease or depression or whatever it is that leads people to do this.

He left his old coach a message saying he was sorry before he did this, though. That is a dark, dark place. Wow... just so sad.

Caught some of that NFL AM earlier this morning and these games need to hurry up and get started so they'll actually have something to talk about.

The whole "manufactoring argument" thing gets old very, VERY quick.

I watched two minutes of that show this morning for the first time. Only two minutes of that show I'll ever watch. "NFL Phelps equivalent" was the talking point and one of them said Favre. It's nothing but their attempt at the Cold Pizza/First and Ten/whatever they call it now daytime dreck that ESPN puts on the air.

They bring up decent points at times. Not a whole lot to talk about now. I'd definitely take it over any of the ESPN shows.

I would take anything over ESPN.

After a few days the show is really starting to grow on me.

Funny article on the Summer of Gronk and why it ended too soon:

Rob Gronkowski went on a whirlwind world tour of bro-ness this summer. It was a journey that ended far too soon.

I'm honestly surprised Gronkowski wasn't arrested for a DUI this summer, but it seems he's smart and has a posse to drive for him. The man lived the dream this year
