My thing is none of these players work for themselves and I don't think a lot of people get that. We can argue until we're blue in the face about whats' right or wrong about what makes owners worry about paying a guy an insane amount of money. He wears his hat backwards? He won't cut his hair? He asks for a new contract too often? He's not a "team" player, as vague as that statement is?

WE can debate what should and shouldn't go into their decisions but the players know and they have a choice. Either act the way they want you to or run the risk of them not wanting you on their team anymore... and if you take that chance you better hope you've got enough other positive qualities that someone else will pick you up. At this point in his career, no problem for DJax. TO on the other hand, he overshot his value.

I agree, I meant more in terms of the media. I don't really feel bad for any players.

*Not that you mentioned Desean Jackson; I just want to draw the comparison, and shoot at the Eagle's bs a bit more*

I could ask, what should Jackson have done? You'll tell me not associate with gang members. Cooper shouldn't have said *This* while representing the Eagles, at Lincoln Financial Field.

If the birds werent full of ****, he would be cut for being a problem which DJ got cut for. Didnt Cooper get into an altercation with a teammate during camp because of his racially motivated rant, which happened while representing the Eagles at Lincoln Financial Field. But I guess pissing off teammates and attacking a race of people on company property isn't problem enough.

Instead he got rewarded with a brand new contract making him a staple of the Eagles franchise, while the other guy who took photos got cut instantaneously after a vapid report.

I actually dont care that Riley didn't get cut, got paid, and was coddled after his **** up. Mostly because I realize nobody really cares what these guys do off the field. Just seems kinda funny with the way the Eagles handled the DJ situation; a situation where he did nothing. What kind of message is that sending to the people who root for that team, and Philadelphia the city?

Sounds like you're carrying a lot of resentment in regards to Riley Cooper. It's definitely healthy and get it all out in a venue like this lol.

                    NFL Off Topic

Cooper's words were and are deplorable, especially in the context. He used it as a racial slur, not in the friendly manner. Really comes off as a complete *******, which he very well may be.

I'm sure many other players use it in a racial slur type way (as well as other racial slurs, regardless of race), they're just not dumb enough to be caught on camera doing it. I probably would cut Cooper on stupidity alone.

But he got that contract because he had a good season. He earned it. The question is whether the suddenly high moral Eagles should have continued to give him that opportunity. For a player who, going into last season, was basically "just a guy," it is somewhat surprising they kept him around. I'm sure cutting him wouldn't have hurt the cap situation much.

I think the Jackson situation was more extreme because he was disrespecting the team, leadership, and teammates by missing meetings and having a bad attitude. Add the connections to gang members and the league focusing on public image plus he gets paid a lot more and wanted to get paid more on top of that, it was the perfect storm. Jackson was an easy target to scapegoat and build the Eagles reputation up as a team that won't stand for crap like that regardless of what the main reason was. I think they all combined to equal lets cut this player outright.

Jackson wasn't cut because of the "gang" story. If the Eagles had anything to do with that gang story being put out there I think that's really shady.

Here is the altercation you speak of

Riley Cooper was "coddled"? I strongly disagree.

Personally, I wouldn't have cut Cooper.

What purpose would that serve in the first place? You cut him for getting caught on Camera saying it(if there's no Camera phone around, this isn't even a discussion and nobody gives a damn about some Riley Cooper)but what happens if a video is posted on TMZ and it shows one of your black players dropping all types of N bombs, F bombs(four letter kind)? You gonna cut him too? If you do, then people are coming after you for "cutting someone that basically grew up around the word and you're accused of not knowing the context in it was used" and if you don't, then you're considered a hypocrite and possibly even more because you didn't do anything.

Where do you draw the line at?

I would be fine if they cut Cooper. What he did was awful and unprofessional.

But he wasn't and paid his dues. His situation is from what we know, an isolated incident. This makes is not comparable to Jackson.

To me a white NFL player caught on camera using a racial slur is enough to justify a team cutting him. Saying your going to fight every *enter whatever slur you want here* in here is ugly. Ugly enough to be fired over. In my opinion anyway.

****, many wanted that guy from Miami's head for bullying. Of course all this is personal opinion as a fan. Teams obviously have to take many things into consideration when situations come up. But as a fan I think Cooper should have been shown the door.

If he was a Patriot who helps us win games would I feel the same? I dunno. Easy for me to say Cooper should because he's an Eagle.
