How would people react if Johnny Football had a documentary series announced less than a week after he's drafted? Let's hope people give Sam that 'equal' treatment.

But in terms of football they aren't equal.

One was draftet in the first round, one was drafted in the last round.

If you want to compare comparable situations you need to use the name of anyone else drafted in the final round instead of Manziel.

I mean in the sense of the attention they have gotten pre/post draft. Manziel gets the rep of being attention seeking and cocky and out for the $$$, etc. Yet Sam pulls this. I'm not trying to down the guy or his cause, but I know if Manziel had a reality show people would call it a distraction and I hope that those that would do the same in Sam's case.

"Docuseries" ... So like Deadliest Catch instead of Survivor - but he could still get voted off before it concludes. It's still reality TV, as is Hard Knocks.

So they've already been filming him since before he was picked, I wonder if this announcement coincides with negotiations with the Rams to try and get cameras in the facilities.

But Michael Sam and Johnny Manziel's (or any other draftee for that matter) situations are completely different.

The show can be a distraction for Sam and the Rams. The same way a similar situation could be a distraction for Manziel and the Browns. But what is your point? It sounds like you want people to bag on Sam for being the same kind of attention seeker as Manziel is perceived as. I dont see it that way.

I'm still not sure what point your getting at.

I'm not sure if anyone on the football side of things cares much for this in the same sense that they don't care for some of the actions Manziel has showed.

I really don't see a difference nor do I understand what you are getting at.

I feel like Sam...it's getting close to that point bro. I know it's a big moment for history and I'm not trying to take anything away from that. But don't say you only want to be judged for what you do on the field and just want to focus on football then go and do this. If he wants the money/attention, that's fine, but don't sugar coat it. That's my main thing.

How many football players have said "it's all about football. That's my only focus" and then went and filmed 10 commercials? They all say that. How is Sam different?

And he's not the 1st or last athlete to have off the field things influence his marketability.

So if I'm understanding this correctly, everyone was supposed to profit off of this but him?
