In no shape or form should Rice of done it, especially to the extent he did. I'm saying society as a standard that every time there's a physical dispute between a man and woman, the guy is automatically guilty before anything.

Also ray rice 3 game suspension.

Untrue. They can both be guilty, and should be.

If I have a kid annoying the **** out of me by punching me, I'm not gonna haul off and deck him - knocking him out. It's just not how it works. Same exact concept. She ain't gonna hurt him by punching him. If he didn't? Guess what, she's the only one in hot water.

It's a super easily avoidable situation.

Both parties in this are idiots.

I agree, however, to candyman's point, consider this:

Somebody says, "men are generally more physically imposing, stronger, and more capable than women." The response from many is going to be that they are sexist, a male chauvinist, etc.

Someone else says, "A man should never hit a woman, because she's a woman." It's really the same thing that's being insinuated, but under different circumstances.

Some people would like to have it both ways in that sense.

I understand that it's a matter of societal norms, and I don't have a problem with that; maybe the reason I don't have a problem with it is due to my adherence to a societal norm. But I also don't agree with all societal norms, in fact I think quite a few of them are garbage.

Yes, assaulting anyone is against the law, but consider the difference in perception between a smaller man getting knocked out by another man, and a woman of any size/ability being knocked out by a man.

If a woman wants to attack a man like a man, I have no issue with that person retaliating. Ya'll acting like a woman cant hurt a man. Thats not always the case. Unless the attacker is family, a loved one, friends, or someone not in their right mind (drunk), I dont hold it against the man for fighting back.

In this case Ray was wrong. You cant fight your wife; where she ends up knocked out and you are dragging her lifeless body around a hotel.

Regarding Washington....IF they do change their name(whether it be because they've been forced to,or they just decide one day to just stop fighting it and change the name), do people think that might lead to a domino type of effect where other teams might change their name and/or logo? I know their team name is actually offensive to some people, and others might not be, but it just makes me think that if people realized that they could get this teams name changed,it could lead to other teams names being changed. Indians,Blackhawks,Chiefs,Braves among others could have people trying to change name?

Also...if they do end up changing their name one day, what do people think it could be changed to? Washington Senators is a name I've been thinking as one either for this team,or the NBA Wizards if they ever want to change theirs.

Colleges have already changed their names and of the names you listed, none are derogatory terms (though the Indians need to change that minstrel-esque logo).

But the thing is...the "social media world we live in" has lead to change happening in various things because of how easily accessible information/facts/opinions and stuff on situations are, so people are forced to react to those things instead of ignoring it like in the past where it was just ignoring a newspaper column or something that no everyone even reads to begin with.

Eh... It's the vocal minority leading the charge. There are several teams in the Midwest that are called the redskins with large numbers of players being native American. Dan Snyder is an *** hole and won't change the name pretty much until there is a gun to his head.

We’ve been told a New Dan Snyder walks among us. The line that’s been in heavy rotation out of Redskins Park (and Snyder’s wholly-owned media empire) all season holds that he’s letting football people run the football team. His wife, Tanya Snyder, is out selling the transformation, too. Last week she went on local TV […]

This is who owns the redskins.

In our lifetime it will change. Snyder won't own the team forever, and even if he does, never is a LONG time for anything like this to remain the same. It'll only happen once money starts being lost though, the government pressure isn't enough to make Snyder change his mind.
