Now that Irsay has pled guilty to his probation punishment is expected this week, per Schefter. He continues saying that it wouldn't be able to exceed $500k without going to the owners to get permission for a harsher punishment.

PFT says reports put the suspension at 6-8 games, and Cris Carter this morning predicted a year.

Jim Irsay has been fined $500K and been suspended for 6 games. I believe he also can't use social media during that span.

It's not Friday, and it's not 5 p.m., but the NFL has tied up the one messy piece of business it had to do before games start this week.

The fine and suspension I understand, but if the Twitter ban is true, then that's crossing the line in my opinion.

I don't follow the guy, nor do I care what he has to say, but to censor someone like that is crazy. Last time I checked, the NFL doesn't own Twitter. It's like telling someone not to talk.

Probably not an outright ban on using Twitter, just can't use it for team activities like he does (announcing roster moves, etc). Essentially still doing his job. Outside of that he doesn't really use it all that much.

Edit: fromt your link that's exactly what it sounds like - "...and may not conduct media interviews or engage in social media regarding any team or league matters."

I hope that's the case, because that would be nuts. I mean, the guy made his bed, so he should sleep in it, but at the same time, the Commish should know what's in his jurisdiction.

I almost took it as an overall ban from Twitter, not just relegated to team specific activities. It would make sense if that's the case.

What exactly does suspending an owner actually do?

He just signs the checks. Irsay is a pretty public figure for the Colts. But what if Joe Owner did this? I bet we wouldn't have even heard about it, or it would have been a blip on the radar. I guess it's bad timing too with personal conduct and all that fun stuff being a focal point this offseason.

                            What a ****ing idiot.

How could athletes be so dumb? Is it just that they're a microcosm of our society as a whole? Do they think they're invincible? Do they just simply lack the intelligence to know otherwise given that their entire life is whatever sport they play?

It just doesn't make any sense. These people are risking millions of dollars for drugs. What in the living ****.

To be fair, it could be a prescription that he's been given recently that just happens to be on the list of banned substances.

But then again, he's done some questionable stuff lately.
