You'd have a point if Rice was the first NFL player to ever beat his spouse.

Doesn't he have to get approved for reinstatement? Probably not the best idea to take the NFL to court. But he's clearly not the brightest bulb.

The Browns are a rival and all but man this kid is so damn talented, it actually pisses me off how he's handling all of this.

Yeah, that's why I think he might end up just deciding to sit it out. If he takes them to court and loses, he's ****ed.

I really can't believe the players' union allowed rules like this to be put into place by the NFL without any restriction or review whatsoever.

Lifetime ban is also misleading. Nice PR for the league today though.

CBA is a negotiation, what do they give up just to protect the players stupid enough to use up all their 3+ strikes, which are a fairly extreme minority of the league? I don't get the restrictions or review comment at all, it's all governed by the CBA and an appeals guy that's probably jointly paid by the NFLPA/NFL like conduct reviews.

If anything the appeals officer didn't follow the CBA by only suspending him for the season some are reporting, rather than the full calendar year.

Seems like a high character kid. I wanted Manziel just for the media circus. But I'm so happy we took Bridgewater instead.
Stole this from the team thread. Between this and seeing what he did for his mom and other thing this kid seems to have a great head on his shoulders.

Ray Rice light punishment was the reason for this. Goodell felt the pressure and now there are set punishments.

I was talking about the Personal Conduct Policy, not the drug policy.

Greg Hardy's case is interesting, because he was found guilty, but has appealed, and now there won't be any action taken until after this season. He very well may end up with a 6-game suspension, after he plays in a contract year this season.

But a story like that doesn't get any play in the media. Maybe it's because he's not a recognizable name, it's almost certainly also because there isn't a video to go along with it, and call me pessimistic, but I think most people are also just full of ****.

I feel like the NFLPA would go nuts if they try to suspend him 6 games because they implemented a policy after the incident had already occurred, but who knows. It is a very interesting situation.
