Looks like expanded playoffs are a go for next season with reseeding for each round.

      "sigh"

This wouldn't get so much traction if we didn't keep seeing .500 or below .500 division winners and double digit win teams being squeezed out of the playoffs.

I admittedly haven't looked very hard but I've looked at most of the plces you would expect to see a story of this magnitude and can't find it anywhere.

        Where are you getting this?

Saw it on NFL-N with Steve Wyche and the other guy er his name escapes me. The NFL media guy (not Breer but the younger one) anywho, they related this bit of news at the end of their segment on NFL Live today. Apparently the vote will go down in March.

I mean we already have reseeding after each round so that's not new so what were they talking about with regards to expanded playoffs?

Reseeding after a round still has no bearing on where the first round game is played nor does it have anything to do with sub .500 teams making the playoffs.

Okay, to clarify they said that it would be expanded to two more teams in the playoffs. Division winners will still be able to host a playoff game despite their record and this would ensure some of the double digit win teams that currently get squeezed out will be able to get into the playoffs.

Comments have been made against Manziel playing because of his size. I pointed out that Clowney and other bigger players also get hurt so size has nothing to do with that.

                  Got it, that makes sense.

Still hope it doesn't pass but one additional wildcard on each side won't be a killer. Just two extra playoff games a year.

But that means only one team gets a first round bye now.

Which is why I don't want it to pass.

But if they are going to expand in any way, I would rather it be that way than eliminate all first round byes.

There's still nothing written about this so I don't think it has any legs anyway. Sounds like it was just some grumbling that won't go anywhere.

Not at all. First you ask if Clowney is a bust after 4 games because of a fluke injury. But it seems like you have already made up your mind. Then you use the fact that Manziel is small for a QB to ask another loaded question about Clowney. So to me it seems like you have an axe to grind.

Anyone who has read my post know that I'm critical of players (hell I break down film of RGIIIs many issues). But your recent post have come across like there is something you personally don't like about Clowney. Seriously a bust question after less than 4 full games.

But it's all good continue to go at us for the asinine stuff you post.

I won't mind an extra playoff spot. 7 teams in the playoffs sounds fair enough. Puts more emphasis on being the best in the conference cause you get the even more coveted bye.

7 playoff teams still wouldn't even mean half the teams in the league get in, so not like adding an extra spot would lead to bad teams making it. If the extra spot existed last year, yes, a 8-8 team in AFC would get in,but so would the 10-6 Cards for the NFC. And fittingly enough, Seahawks/Broncos would've been the only 2 teams who got a BYE in 1st round.

1 extra playoff spot, the WORST a team will be to get that spot will be 8-8, so not really a bad team or anything. Many years there's that 1 team who has 10 wins that doesn't make it, I think they should add the extra spot.

No thanks to any 8-8 team making the playoffs because of an extra spot...

The news came out that Clowney will be out for the rest of the season and maybe the beginning of next season. Every sports fan is critical of players yet for some reason I have to have some personal vendetta (because you said so) against a guy when all I'm doing is reacting to sports news.
And because you are a moderator here then me supposedly having a personal issue with Clowney (which i dont ) will be written in stone as the absolute truth.
                              Wow.
Now if I say I won't be critical of any athlete then ill be wrong for that too. Everyone will agree with your stance on this so , on that note, I might as well accept it.

Would have happened sometimes. 6 of the last 20 7th seeds finished 8-8 in the the last decade. Going by NFL.com rankings, and assuming they take into account playoff tiebreakers that can mess up some of the obvious rankings, here are the 7th seeds each year for the past decade:

                                2013:
                                8-8 Steelers
                                10-6 Cardinals

                                2012:
                                8-8 Steelers
                                10-6 Bears

                                2011:
                                9-7 Titans
                                8-8 Bears

                                2010:
                                9-7 Chargers
                                10-6 Giants

                                2009
                                9-7 Texans
                                9-7 Falcons

                                2008
                                11-5 Patriots
                                11-5 Falcons

                                2007
                                10-6 Browns
                                8-8 Vikings

                                2006
                                9-7 Broncos
                                8-8 Rams

                                2005
                                10-6 Chiefs
                                9-7 Cowboys

                                2004
                                9-7 Bills
                                8-8 Saints

Of course this all changes a bit perhaps if they drop a couple of preseason games and expand the season to 18...
