I wouldn't say "wrong," I think they just might not have had all the info:

Colts proposing if go for 2 points after TD and make it, can attempt bonus kick for 9th point from midfield.

    ‏@MarkMaske
"Bonus point" proposal by Colts for 9th point (after TD and successful 2-point conversion) would be 50-yd kick. Ball snapped at 32-yd line.

Nope. I just don't like it.

Eight points in a single possession is enough.

The only reason the NFL even thinks about this proposal is if they want to add more excitement at the end of games.

They won't think about it for longer than it takes to say no.

I tend to be more open to rules changes than most folks on this board....but even I hate this 9pt idea.

I think it's time for Irsay to pee in a cup. I mean, just in case.

That is just a bizarre and really random suggestion.

Let's just play first to 3 TD's so everyone has a fair and equal chance!

Give me a break. They already tweaked OT so teams can't win on a field goal. If your team can't stop the other from scoring a TD, you don't deserve another chance.

Silly exaggeration in an era of more and more rules that favor the offense. It's not that unreasonable of a proposal.

Almost as silly as everyone needing a fair and equal chance after they've been given 60 minutes of fair and equal play to decide a victor.

A coin toss sucks, but giving both teams a possession isn't the answer either. If you let it get to that point, I don't think you should get a sympathy possession.

If a team wins a face off in OT in the NHL and goes down to score without the other team touching the puck, they don't give the other team a chance. That's ridiculous.

I'd be more open to playing a set period of time. It's essentially the same thing I suppose, but it cuts out this everyone gets a chance crap. Sorry your team wasn't good enough, you should probably focus on that then changing the rules.

I don't think you can really compare NFL OT to sports like hockey or lacrosse where the winning of possession to start OT is still a skill-based part of the game. I'd also say it's a lot easier to win back possession in those sports.

I do really enjoy the college overtime rules, but idk that I'd want to see them implemented in the NFL.

I think there maybe could be something to the idea of a set overtime period that's fully played through, but games are already so damn long that it would have to be less than 15 minutes.
