Junior Seau’s Family Will Not Be Allowed to Speak at His Hall of Fame Induction

"SAN DIEGO — Junior Seau’s induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame was always going to be awkward, a chance to celebrate a marquee player known for his bone-crushing career while not dwelling on his controversial death tied to it.

When his induction was announced at the Super Bowl, his family rejoiced and started thinking about what to say at the ceremony in Canton, Ohio, on Aug. 8. Seau had told them if he ever made it, he wanted his daughter, Sydney, to introduce him.

But the Hall of Fame does not plan to let Sydney or anyone else speak on his behalf. Instead, it will only show a video that will commemorate his career, while avoiding questions about his suicide in 2012 and the subsequent diagnosis of traumatic brain injury that doctors said they believed was brought on by hits to his head. Nor will the video mention the lawsuit that Seau’s family has filed against the N.F.L., which is trying to curb injuries in active players and address brain disease in thousands of retired ones.

To the Hall of Fame officials, simply showing the video, which will not invoke Seau’s suicide, will keep the focus on his playing days. To his family still grappling with his death, though, the tribute seems underwhelming for one of the sport’s best linebackers and a highly regarded figure in Southern California where Seau grew up and played most of his career."

Disappointing but not surprising especially in light of the fact that there's ongoing litigation.

I don't think it's about the lol QB winz. Again I think Luck is better per se, but I just don't see how anyone can objectively say they're not in the same tier.

For instance, who is the better player out of the two below taking 3 years of career statistics:

              Player A- 98.6 pass rating, 9950 pass yards, 7.9 Y/A, 72 TD, 26 INT, 64.3%, 1877 rush yards, 11 rush TD

              Player B- 86.6 pass rating, 12957 pass yards, 7.1 Y/A, 86 TD, 46 INT, 58.6%, 905 rush yards, 12 rush TD

You might say Player B, but you would be hard pressed to say they are not on the same level. When you add this in:

Player A- Super Bowl Champion, 2 time Conference Champion

Player B- One Conference Championship Game appearance

You would be hard pressed to say that Player B is better let alone being a tier above Player A.

That said, I know they play two different roles and that Luck is forced to really carry his team. But again, I don't see how you can look at them both and say that one is on a whole other level.

Do you think Flacco would make the Cowboys better? Do a better job than Romo has done?

Luck is the better QB to me. I like Wilson and he fits well with Seattle but Seattle was okay without him and would be good with an average QB. The Colts would flat out suck without Luck and that's part of the reason they were able to draft him.

Yep the Colts have always had a good QB in order not to suck. The years before Manning and after Manning's final playing season show that. 3-13 the year before and 2-14. Andrew Luck comes in they go something like 10-6 or 9-7.

Might be showing my bias but as of right now Luck is on a whole other level from Wilson. He's carried the team without a consistent ground game and a defense that has been ran out of the playoffs two years straight.

Seattle's D and the beast in the backfield carry the bulk of that teams success. Wilson is good and has made his plays along the way but until he can carry a team the way Luck can granted in a weak division, he ain't touching the beard just yet.

Andrew Luck has had to live with a crap defense and no running game.

Wilson has had the best defense/running game combo in the league since he stepped on the field.

the most attempts Russell Wilson has had in a season 452. I think that's a pretty big stat missing. When you compare the supporting casts it's really comical if you want to go by the team thing.

on that note man Grigson has done a horrible job hasn't he after he got all that praise for drafting luck lol.

I wouldnt blame it all on Romo if thats what you're asking. Garrett and their defense had been trash for years. Its no coincidence that the year they start to click, the Cowboys went deeper in the playoffs then they had since 2007. They would probably had gone even deeper if the ref gives Dez that catch.

But I would take Romo over Flacco because Ive seen him play up close and personal for a decade and the stuff he pulls out of his *** on a weekly basis are miraculous. The cowboys have finally put an entire offense around him and he played at a 5 star level last season. When his team hasnt been stellar, he was still great, interceptions included.

When I see Flacco play, I get more upset than I do impressed.
