    Re: NFL Off Topic

I have always wanted to go to a NFL game but the cost of a hotel, gas, tickets, food, and parking I think I will just watch the games on tv.

Been to a few NFL games and I'd rather sit at home and watch regardless of the weather.

NFL Game Rewind is offering a free trial that runs until January 6th. If you haven't given it a try I would look it up. You can rewatch full or condensed games and have access to the all-22 and end zone coaches cam (to watch line play closer). If you've never experienced it now is a good time to try.

Totally agree. If I get free tickets somehow I'd definitely go, because watching an NFL game live is pretty cool. But no way I'd pay the crazy ticket, parking, beer, and food prices to go.

I've been to a handful of games in different stadiums and I really enjoyed going to all but 1 of them. The 1 I didn't enjoy was because of these two insanely drunk guys sitting behind me that were obnoxious.

I've always wondered this but it seems to me kickers are SO good these days that 3 pointers/XPs are just about automatic. It almost becomes headline news when a kicker misses a "makeable" field goal.

I went one time and never again. The etiquette for baseball doesn't transfer over apparently as I was constantly having to stand up to let people in/out regardless if the game was going on.

Clearly not used to the post-season in the Washington area.

Something I was thinking of the other day, am I suffering from observational bias or are referees more willing to swallow their whistle when an offensive player makes contact with the defender than vice versa for pass interference?

I swear, I see more ticky tack calls for DPI but I have seen offensive players blatantly push off and not get called. Also I notice referees seem to not call offsetting penalties and instead decide to flag the defender, even when the defensive pass interference is a direct result of offensive pass interference.

Hard to get used to something that rarely happens here outside of College and the Caps and even they don't get much attention here.

Nine times out of ten, a DPI call is easy to figure out (whether it seems like the right call or not). Defender turns his head to look for the ball and the referee generally lets them get away with anything the offensive player gets away with. Defender doesn't turn to look at the ball and if he's breathing too close to the offensive player, they throw the flag.

Bad DPI calls don't bother me so much because it seems pretty easy to adjust as a defender to avoid them.

Very few extra points are missed over the course of a season. So if 99.7% of the time something is going to guarantee points whats the point? I think it would be more exciting to see teams have to compete for those points like they do to score the TD. I know it will probably never change, but I think its a different way to handle the post TD point try.

Also, killakings, deleted post has some merit.

I understand your point with the extra point. I was wondering why you would move the 2 pt conversion line back a yard and make a 3 pt conversion line at the 7? In some rough touch men's football leagues I've helped run, we've done a 1 point conversion at the 5 and a 2 point conversion at the 10? Obviously if that was implemented in the NFL, the 2 point conversion would be extremely difficult to say the least.
