True, but how many players actually do that and not worry about "getting theirs". As much as we here about holdouts, it's always cool to read things like this. Especially when it's one of the premiere players at the premier position of the NFL.

Agreed, I don't want to come off as knocking it as it is farrr better than the alternative, it's just not something that unique or surprising.

Unique, no. Surprisingly? A little to me that you'd figure at some point Brady would look at all these deals by other QBs, look at his age, and then want to cash out one last time. But I see where you're coming from.

Brady isn't exactly hurting for cash. Add the $10 mil in endorsements that he gets every year in to the equation, and I'm sure he's not complaining that he isn't the highest paid.

He could have easily said no to restructuring the deal and kept his salary cap hip at the 15+ million it could've been. Instead he gives the Pats some much needed cap relief (7/8 million can go a long way), when they have plenty of areas to improve and some big FAs to try and bring back.

And in exchange he's guaranteed to be paid to the age of 40. Lets not act like he's some saint here, lol. The Pats haven't won it all in years and Brady (still HOFer and in the convo for best ever) is past his prime. That security is more important than is being made out... as well as having his targets. Guys watch Manning, Montana, etc. forced to move on at the tail end of their careers. Not taking anything away from him for not simply chasing dollars but he also didn't just give money back like he's Robin Hood.

Not surprising at all. Brady specifically did it before and you can see how the entire thing works out with the money he actually gets. Many other players have done it also... they just aren't named Tom Brady so there aren't big stories about it.
