If only offensive linemen could ever be considered.

On the bright side, we have an offensive line to be proud of for the first time in ages.

Warford is a beast, Detroit definitely got a steal there with him in the third round. I'm still surprised he dropped that far.

          Re: NFL Off Topic

I have a feeling either way the OROY ball bounced, people would be complaining about it.

It was basically a toss-up between the two. If GB/SD both made the playoffs, toss up. If one made it and the other didn't, that player would win. If both missed it, toss up again.

Keenan sat out week 1. Had 9 games over 50 yards receiving. 5 of those were 100+ yard games. 8 Touchdowns, 2 fumbles and 1046 yards. His blocking wasn't anything to write home about. Oddly enough, his big yardage games were never his multiple touchdown games. The 2 games that he did score multiple touchdowns in, his receiving totals were 59 yards and 29 yards. He was 12th in the league for lowest drop rate (6.58%) which put him below Victor Cruz (6.41%) and Nate Washington (6.45%) and above Anquan Boldin and Jordy Nelson (6.59%). He was 13th in the league in Yards per Pass Route Run with 2.06 YPPR. Directly below Brandon Marshall (2.13 YPPR) and above Dez Bryant (2.05 YPPR.)

Lacy effectively missed 2 weeks (week 2 where he had 1 rush and got KTFO, and week 3.) Lacy had 8 games over 80 yards rushing, with 4 of those being over 110. He added another 257 yards receiving. 11 Touchdowns, 1 fumble and a total of 1178 rushing yards. He was 4th in the league in missed tackles on rushing plays (56) behind AP (58) and LeSean McCoy (57). He was a fantastic blocking back, allowing 1 hit and 2 hurries (0 sacks) on the 110 plays he played as a pass blocker.

Either way, someone would be unhappy. Both players deserved to be there and both could have easily walked away with the award. I thought the running consensus was that (Warford aside obviously) both players were running in a dead heat up to award ceremony time.

I guess the internet always has to have a cause to champion, or something to argue about, but let's not act like "it's a joke for Lacy to win it."

A joke, to me, would be Desmond Trufant not even getting any consideration or votes for DROY. He was easily one of the best cornerbacks in the league by any measure. One of the top-10 in tackling efficiency (attempted tackles made per missed tackle), led the league in passes deflected, gave up 3 touchdowns all year and held his opposing WR to a 53.4 catch percentage.

Why does it seem more common for a defender to be a Superbowl MVP and not a season MVP?

I have no idea, because the last time a defensive player won the SB MVP was Dexter Jackson in 2002.

Super Bowl is one game where you can have a big impact. While during the season unless you have an Super Bowl MVP type game every week, you are up against QBs, RBs, and WRs who get to touch the ball way more.

This is pretty much it, if a defensive player earns seasonal MVP then he has to have an otherworldly season or the guys on the offensive side of the ball have to have meh years in comparison.

The year Derrick Brooks had like 7 defensive TDs he still only got DPOY. If he didn't get it that year no defensive player will ever get it.

With cameras and reporters locked in on the Super Bowl MVP's press conference, one man decided it was the perfect time to grab the spotlight and make a political statement.
