Tough break for a good kid. He was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time. Everyone loves a comeback story. Did I miss anything?

      **** that guy.

The league does have rules in place, but they aren't that bad. I think someone from the Lions got fined $100,000 and suspended 30 days.

The NFLPA needs to push the NFL to do something similar to what the players get as this is worse than just an employee (player) doing this.

Why not go after draft picks? I'm talking about 1st or 2nd rd picks in this year's Draft.

Suspending him and/or fining him isn't really teaching him anything so go after something that could hurt the team because of his stupidity.

Owners are subject to the personal conduct policy just like players, just less legislation around fine schedules because they're not unionized.

I expect he'll be fined pretty heavily, the legal process and rehab will be enough punishment otherwise.

It explains a lot and isn't really surprising to any Colts fan that was paying attention. If you watched him during post game Pagano speeches this past year or when they showed him during a game he just looked ****ed up. Several times I watched post game speeches and he was swaying back and forth while just standing there listening to Pagano talk. Not only that but look at this man....

                  Spoiler

Go back a year or two and compare the pics. You can't tell me he isn't on something.

Feel a little bad for him since he was a recovering alcoholic too(never heard about drugs though). Glad he's alright and hope he gets help.

That said how stupid is it for him to have all the money in the world yet couldn't get himself a designated driver. Goodness.

This is not surprising to me, but it's definitely sad. It was obvious on multiple occasions that he was messed up, hopefully he gets help and gets his life back on track.

I get that but at the same time, if they want to hold the Owners/Management folk to the same standard they do the players(especially when it comes to something like this)what does fining him really do though?

If you hold him to the same standard as players then he would be enrolled in the drug program and we wouldn't even find out about it until there are multiple offenses. Suspensions dont happen for a 1st time offense unless the substances are on the PED list. The DUI would probably get a player a game or two depending on severity/cooperation under the conduct policy for a first-time offense (way too light but it is what it is, thanks CBA/NFLPA).

I expect he'll be making a pretty contribution to the charity of the league's choosing and little else, the legal system and PR/personal consequences will be more significant than anything else they will really do to him because it's not like taking the team away is an option for something like this.

I don't see the situation even remotely affecting draft picks, let alone a 1st or 2nd rounder. This wasn't a competitive violation, he'll be out 6 figures and has a long road of recovery ahead of him.

So then what us Fans need to stop doing(because we always bring it up anytime a player gets in trouble)is asking for Goodell to hold Owners to the same standards as players as far punishments go. Fining him is a waste of time especially since that's not doing anything(Lol @ donating money to charity being a punishment as if he's not already doing that)and he'll make that right back up anyway and we all know he's not going to be doing any time because of this.

But that's a whole other discussion regarding the NFL's Discipline policy, which we all know is a joke.

The polices and punishment are escalating though. Even the inconsequential punishments... you have to dish them out, because then on the 2nd, 3rd, 4th offense you continue to scale them out. When fines clearly aren't working you start suspending, etc. When those suspensions are appealed you have those fines to clearly show the warnings were there and ignored. It's like building a case to fire someone on the job, if you don't have the full set of warnings, justification for an action, then you're stuck paying unemployment. You don't pass on punishing someone just because it is less impactful to him than it would be to a punter picked in the 6th round on a rookie deal.

He is an owner, so he'll be held to a higher standard and probably pay a larger fine than said punter, but clearly you're out for blood or something or don't appreciate the processes you so freely criticize to even suggest they should go after a 1st or 2nd round pick from the Colts for this.

And since you apparently don't know why I said the charity bit... all NFL fines go to charity.

What does fining a player really do? Let's not act like the league is super strict about this stuff.

Aldon Smith got a DUI January 2012. Didn't miss a single regular season game. Gets a second DUI September 20, 2013. Plays in the game two days later. Goes to rehab. Gets charged with three felony counts of illegal possession of an assault weapon on October 9th. Plays every game from week 9 until they get knocked out of the post-season.
