I mean, my approach, when it comes to law and handing out punishment is to prevent the issue from happening again and if a person is seen as a threat to society, to separate them from society, i.e. incarceration.

This, from my knowledge, is a first time offense, and Rice isn't known to be a particularly violent man, to my knowledge. I think the NFL and media are blowing this out of proportion and that the legal system got this one correct. He got away with a no longterm harm, you get a second chance ruling. Even if the law had seen this, how does it change what we already knew. He knocked her out cold with his hands. Pretty much what Rice stated already.

This will be about Ray Rice and the NFL and how they screwed this up... But don't lose sight of the most important thing in all of this... A woman who was severely assaulted by a "man" that is supposed to protect her. At this point her present and future safety should be priority number one. If there is any justice left in the world, Rice should not be given another opportunity to hurt her like this.

The Ravens have announced an 8pm availability for the media with Harbaugh and the players.

You might know this as a time when a certain biggest sports network on earth is carrying an NFL game and can't air any of it live.

        So that's... that's something.

The way Rice was so nonchalant in the video after making his wife go unconscious tells me this wasnt an isolated incident. He's been there done that with this woman before. Then the Ravens propping her up in front of the national media to apologize for her role. Basically telling her to assume guilt to save her husband's ***. That woman is trapped. Her mind is so ****ed right now. I hope it doesnt get worse for her.

Yep. This goes way deeper, obviously. A young woman is in trouble.

If Ray Rice is playing Week 3, I just... My blood boils thinking about him on the field ever again.

Sorry if already posted, but Schefter was just on ESPN2 saying that the NFL can't increase the suspension due to double jeopardy, which is against the CBA.

However, he also said that they could try to anyways and just try to force the NFLPA to just let it happen or stand up for a wife-beater.

Piece of human trash should be cut anyways.

His career in the NFL should be over, regardless of what the league can "officially" do.

I think the NFLPA should fight against double jeopardy and force the league to live with the bull**** they tried to pull with the 2 game suspension in the first place. NFL is gonna have to offer them something to just let this slide. You cant have your union allowing breaches of the CBA, even in this scenario imo.

Put the pressure on the Ravens to release him. That would effectively end his career.

Yeah, that's my feeling. I mean there's no way the PA wants to be viewed as defending a wife beater. If you go by that video it's clear as day that Rice has done this more than once. If the PA were to protest this too much you KNOW the national media and womens groups will apply a LOT of pressure on them.

I guess my only thing is why does it matter if the NFL saw the video or not? We all knew what happened and so did they. Watching him drag her out of the elevator like a piece of garbage is enough to see. 2 games was and still is a joke. Especially when u have a player like Mathis who got 4 games for taking a ******* fraternity pill.

If the NFL goes the double jeopardy route, then Goodell should fine/suspend himself for screwing up to begin with.

I'm done as a Ravens fan if this POS ever steps foot on the field in a Ravens uniform.

I'm actually embarrassed to be a Ravens fan right now. The way they handled this whole situation was pathetic. From the press conference where Janay apologized. To the PR guy (Kevin Byrne) writing an article titled: "I like Ray Rice". They tried to sweep this under the rug, and it blew up in their face.

If you're the NFL, with a decent security staff, how did you "miss" this video? I realize glass houses and all of that, but I'm more looking at the league when it comes to something this substantial being put out via TMZ.

It doesn't matter too much because the Ravens play the Steelers on national tv on Thursday night. I'm actually glad this isn't going to ruin tonight's games, they don't deserve that. But starting tomorrow leading up to Thursday night, it'll be all over the place.
