Got ya, forgot they are tied with the Seahawks but I don't think it's possible (or probable) to move to the one seed short of maybe some ties since they lose the tiebreakers with the remaining 11-4 teams.

And they want to suspend him for a game that happens to ruin his year accrued toward FA? Comes off as phoney to me, even if he did it to himself.

If the Browns were in playoff contention, I doubt he misses more than a quarter of the game tomorrow. So if they are really fed up with Gordon, they'd prepare to let him go sooner rather than later.

On one hand they can deal with his constant drug offenses and bring him back with no team intervention, but when suspending him benefits the team, they jump on it with the swiftness? Man I dont know.

If I'm them I don't even care to resign him. He's consistently shown he believes the rules don't apply to him, and the next suspension he eminently receives will be more severe. This suspension handed by the Browns does two things:

        1) He is not going to receive special treatment from the Browns' organization

        2) He'll officially be a "restricted" free agent this offseason. If I'm the GM, I'm submitting the minimum qualifying offer hoping that some other team signs him and the Browns would be compensated with a draft pick.

Is there a bona fide can't miss number one pick anyway?

In my opinion no, but I'd sure rather have the #1 pick than 3 or 4.

Perhaps in a draft with a bonafide #1 QB, but in this class there really isn't a lot of difference between 1-5 IMO.

If they want to go through more of the same.

(Not a knock on Mariotta. Just think they need a lot more than a QB before they can compete)

If anything they need to trade their top pick and stockpile as many picks as they can get.

If a team wants to make sure they draft a QB, they'll look to move up into the top 2. That's why I'd like to have one of those picks.

And there's no doubt some teams will fall in love with Mariota/Winston/whoever because it happens almost every year.

Damn Vinatieri just missed a 46 yarder. First miss of the season, 35 of 35 before that. Couldn't stay perfect for one more half huh?

With the NFL waiving their normal TV restrictions this week, I have to ask why do they still even have those rules in place?
