I feel the same way. It's a huge jerk move (in a funny way), but what does it really do but rile up the Jets? Seeing as the Bills can't seem to handle themselves after the whistle, I don't want the Jets aggression to trigger our guys in to doing (more) dumb stuff.
I will say, Rex is consistent. It's not just stunts every now and then. He's always on this kick whether it blows up in his face or not. It's refreshing to an extent, but I prefer for football to be played within the lines and not this other, sensational junk. It has brought some life to Buffalo, though. His shtick wouldn't be needed in other markets, but he's really instilled a renewed pride among the team and fans. You know how much he legitimately loves every player on his team... which is why he's probably more suited to being a DC. He's insanely passionate, to the point that I can see times where it could hinder his ability to lead a team. But he loves the spotlight so much, I don't know if he'll ever be content being just a coordinator again.
The Jets wins haven't been impressive this year, but to even be 5-3 at this point has already made their season a success. I had 0 expectations for the Jets this season, especially with the Geno Smith jawbreaker in preseason. Bowles handled that like a pro and has continued to carry himself and his team impressively.
By their nature, the Jets weren't going to impress anyone this year. They are built around the run and defense. Those games are low scoring and physical but not entertaining like other teams method of winning. That stuff excites me though, and I'm very much looking forward to TNF between two similarly built teams.
How tight the Jets played NE may be their most impressive feat. I can't wait for round 2.
I said it about the Vikings weak schedule the first half of the year recently here, but beating the teams you should beat is sometimes more impressive then pulling an upset. I can't tell you how many times, even as the Bills have been pretty bad over the years, that I marked a game down as "should be a W" only for it to be a loss and see that we were a win or two short of the playoffs at the end of the year. I swear if the Jags game comes back to haunt us...
Gotta win the games you're supposed to!
