Nobody said they had to be Rhodes Scholars to know when to stop smoking for a certain period of time.
The test is basically dummy proof and some still **** up.#RespectTheCultureComment

Re: NFL Off Topic
The way I understood recreational drug testing was that it's only done during the season if you've already failed one test previously. If you have no failed tests they won't even test during the season so you just have to be dumb enough to fail one from the start of the league year through training camp and then can smoke all season.
If that's wrong (and very well could be) I blame the guys on the radio today talking about this suspension and explaining it that way lol.
Like I said a couple of years ago.... You've got to be stupid or just not give a **** to fail a recreational drug test in the NFL.

Re: NFL Off Topic
So what is the problem, that certain player are unable to game an "easy" testing regime or that they're partaking at all?
Some private companies do drug screening while most do not. You'll find the latter, which are usually tech companies, have the most progressive policies, like health coverage for domestic partners or not snooping on Internet use.
It's simply a matter of what the employer thinks of its workers. There are migrant workers in some parts of the world who are treated like slaves, unable to leave oppressive jobs because of certain contract provisions or circumstances which leave them financially indebted to their employers.
So yeah, there are employers still with 19th century or early 20th century mind sets. Is that something which the NFL should be proud of?Comment

PEDs are problematic in professional sports more because of the effects of improper use by minors than the advantage they give on the field. There are technically many PEDs that are allowed, and new ones are usually added to the list when some kid takes it, doesn't hydrate and dies in football practice.
Should the NFL care about the federal law? Yes. Should the NFL care about influencing children? Yes.
Should the NFL be aware of the times and create a system that you just need to use your brain for a second to get around it, while still being respectful of the above two things? Yes... they do. Any players wanting to make their own personal political stand is punished. I really, really don't see the issue.Comment

Re: NFL Off Topic
Even within states where it's not legal, law enforcement doesn't make it a priority to bust for pot.
As for setting an example for kids, none of these anti drug or positive image efforts have deterred use. Second-year players are getting busted so players who use probably had the habit long before entering the league in their early 20s.
NFL doesn't enforce a recreational drug policy because it has to or is under pressure from legal authorities to do so.
It chooses to have such a policy, the way many other employers choose not to subject its employees to invasive tests or otherwise care what they do on their own time.Comment

Coming from someone who is part of a federal law enforcement agency and has been apart of pot busts. I can promise you the government considers it illegal and they are still trying to stop it. Granted we are more after drug cartels than your average citizen.MLB: Texas Rangers
Soccer: FC Dallas, Fleetwood Town
NCAA: SMU, UTA
NFL: Dallas Cowboys

I'm just saying you're barking at the wind man. I just hope that in your own life, even if you actively keep fighting the good fight for change, you read the rules of your employee contract and abide by them. Job has rules... you follow them. Pretty simple.Comment

Re: NFL Off Topic
My take on this is the guys getting busted for recreational drugs are idiots plain and simple. They are told by the league, team, friends, other players, etc. that hey you are getting tested on such and such a date. And it's not like they find out the day before it's probably a couple of weeks in advance and then they can at least try to get all of the stuff out of their system and stop doing the drugs. And the NFL like any other company in the country has a right to drug test their employees if they want or a feel a need to.Comment
