Seems I have an unpopular opinion (again) on the subject of Frank Gore and the HOF.

Is he HOF worthy?

He'll finish this season behind only Emmitt and Payton in rushing yards, he's going to be in Canton.

Yeah, being really good for really long works too. We know there’s guys in the HOF who are there because they were part of multiple Super Bowl teams, not because they were elite players.

I’d prefer it was limited to the very very best but it’s not. Can’t discount a guy who will finish that high in a cumulative stat, especially with the latter part of his career happening in an era that loves passing over rushing.

The WR’s who will end up with a lot of yardage will be harder to figure out.

Reporting that Jacksonville turned down two first round picks for Ramsey. Late rounders sure, but hard to imagine they'd get a better haul than that.

Sounds like Coughlin (?) and/or Marrone are cutting off their nose to spite their face. I guess they’re looking for a Khalil Mack type haul but I’m not sure it’s going to get much better than what they’re getting. They’re playing chicken, waiting for someone (Eagles?) to get extra desperate but at some point giving away all of your future for one player, even as good as Ramsey, isn’t worth it.

Hasn’t he fallen off a bit since his rookie year anyway? Love his game but I’ve heard more talk than production from him since. That goes for the whole Jags defense, actually.

When I think of his ranking on the all time list I think he is a no brained.

But when I think of whether or not he is one of the games best backs in history and look at his yearly stats I hesitate

I never have thought of Frank Gore as elite, just a consistent contributor. That's incredible longevity.

Gore has averaged 4.4 YPC, which is equal to or better than everyone in the Top 10 other than Sanders and Peterson. So while he’s played a long time, it’s not he’s just out-compiling everyone.

He’s also an excellent blocker and pretty good receiver too.

He may never have been truly “elite” but he was on the cusp of it for a long time. That counts for something. Especially at a position not known for longevity.

Stefon Diggs reportedly unhappy in Minnesota, and when asked about it he says there is truth in all rumors but he has not requested a trade.

I don't see the Vikings trading him this season, and if they do my guess would be that it would be for less than his market value.

Wonder what takers there are? I would love for him to join the Ravens, but not a good fit for him.
