Chip Kelly will probably take less money to go to Tennessee. Maybe Indy if that job opens up. I still can't believe Philly did him though. Not that they didn't have cause or reason, but after three years you let him go, he let Djax, Maclin and Shady and other go, and you have to rebuild your team again. I thought they would've given him another season. Not like the NFC East is stacked with powerhouse teams.

I think it's more the way Chip let those guys go. It really seemed like he was a terrible communicator and there was a rift between him and some of his star players. I mean, when Murray has to go to the owner for a conversation that's normally between player and coach than you know there's some bad vibes in the clubhouse.

I'd vote Berry but Navorro Bowman deserves to be in the conversation. He's been a beast in this cluster of a franchise.

Edit: Now I see Tracer mentioned him.

Oooo...that's interesting for sure. Chip needs a steller RB, kind of like the Martz systems of old. Tennessee doesn't have that.

You can find a RB anywhere.

Since 2007 when Kelly was at Oregon up until this year in Philly, he had at least one RB had >= 1000 yards rushing. I don't think 1000-yd rushers are that easy to attain in the NFL otherwise they'd be had.

That said, Murray is a great RB but I'm not familiar enough with Philly to ascertain whether their OL was worse this year versus past seasons or it's just shotty QB play that subsequently put more guys in the box and hurt his running game (or maybe the lack of mobility on Sam?).

Who knows, maybe Chip got a little Andy Reid and pass happy? I think Matthews was the better option for much of the season but he stuck with the $$$'s he paid Murray and it hurt him. Regardless...I believe Chip needs a successful running game to win games.

Chip also runs the ball more than the average coach. You give any replacement level RB volume behind a good line and he'll hit 1000 yards in 16 games. It's only 63 yards a game. Finding a RB at his next stop will be the least of his concerns.

1000 yards is just a random round number we picked a million years ago to define good. It doesn't really mean anything without context.

As a Raiders fan I was shocked to see Latavius Murray top 1,000 yards this season and he sits at 4th in the NFL. I'm not sure he is even a top 10 back in the league.

I just don't think you can run a high tempo, run-oriented offense in the NFL without well above average, and maybe even elite QB play. With NFL roster sizes, you're just going to kill your defense when you don't sustain drives or have a guy who is a significant threat through the air.

I'm honestly not sure this ever happens. Kelly has intimated more than once that he hates the non-coaching aspects of being a head coach in college. Recruiting, fundraising, kissing *** with the donors and big money people, etc...pretty sure he's said he hates all that, and there's much less of it in the NFL.

I suspect he'll either get another NFL head coaching gig, even if it means sitting out a year, or even possibly pursue NFL OC opportunities before he goes back to college.

Yeah, but he's much better than what you guys used to have(Darren Mcfadden), right?

It's the o-line. Same reason Carr didn't get sacked much.
