Yeah, and it sounds like the other owners weren't keen on this plan, but Spanos had the option and he took it. Maybe this will have some effect on teams' extortion of cities for publicly funded stadiums in the future. I do feel for Charger fans though.

I'll be interested to see how the Oakland to Vegas deal goes. Lots of relocating going on.

Today must have been disappointing for them, w/ the focus on the Raiders and no sign of extra cash or time to stay in San Diego from either the league or Kroenke (other than the 2 days to give the holiday/playoffs room).

Wonder if they'll rebrand and leave the Chargers in San Diego.

Apparently Dean Spanos will be stepping down and his sons will run the team.

I realize it's been awhile since San Diego last hosted one, but if the Chargers leave we may never get another Super Bowl there, which sucks. I really really hate this move.

Truly a sad day in San Diego sports. I bet BK is part sad and angry at all this. I have a soft spot for the Chargers what with their history of having some interesting and exciting teams and I've always been a fan of their look. It doesn't hurt that they play in what has been called by many "heaven on earth".

There was a report I think, though for sure there's been plenty of speculation that they will leave the team name, record and history in San Diego.

Small consolation for Chargers fans as it seems from the outside looking in that Spanos really had very little love for the city or the fans to be honest with you.

In not sad or angry about them moving, I'm indifferent about it.

I def don't feel sorry for anyone either. I'd rather they had stayed in SD but it is what it is.

There's zero fan base in LA for the Chargers and Charger fans aren't going to drive to LA to watch. Driving up 405 on a weekend all the way to Inglewood every other Sunday? At least 5 1/2 to 6 hours round trip.

Well it's insanely small to non existent but zero is an exaggeration. There is some, but again it's near nil. But def not zero. At least not in the literal sense.

They'll be the #9 team in LA and #4 Football team in that city in terms of fan support. Have fun

Remember reading somewhere that the Spanos aren't as rich as other NFL owners, especially the ones who took over teams in the last 10-20 years.

So all these owners are looking at new stadiums as a way to move upmarket, charge higher prices.

Of course that's true in all sports, not just the NFL.

You're nuts if you think any more than a negligible number of people are going to make a weekly trip up to Inglewood. When I say its 5-6 hours roundtrip on a weekend, that's from my house at the most northern tip of SD county add an hour each way to anyone in San Diego proper. It includes a fun run up the 405 which is the world largest parking lot. Add in at minimum $10,000 PSL's. Good luck.
