That’s true - this year was an exception but at least they’ve been appropriately flexed out of at least one other prime time game.

Love the move to YTTV. I'm already a subscriber and very satisfied with it.

Seems like a win-win. Youtube TV gets more exposure and brand recognition, and the NFL gets it Sunday Ticket package more accessible.

(not just this thread but I've been surprised with how little people know about you tube TV. Maybe they need to improve their marketing or something)

I really wonder how DirecTV will survive the switch. Between March and September when they get loads of cancelations, they are all going to try and make twelve-month discount offers (of which I'll probably take), but the response should always be: "Inform your superior they should have thought about putting that money toward renewing NFL Sunday Ticket."

Keeping those customers at a discounted rate doesn't cost them nearly as much money as keeping them while nabbing NFLST, but keeping customers to your base is paramount to staying in business in this world of everything streaming.

I personally want cable to stay so I'll still remain a customer, even though it'll cost me more to also have YTTV next year.

Panthers are working out Josh Norman with the expectation they will sign him so he can play this weekend.

If Brady can't put up numbers against this version of Carolina's pass defense....

NFL announced that Denver’s Randy Gregory and LA’s Oday Aboushi each has been suspended without pay for one game for violations of unsportsmanlike conduct and unnecessary roughness rules following Sunday’s Broncos-Rams game.

DirecTV's business (and many of the other traditional linear TV providers) have yet to hit bottom as cord cutting continues to accelerate. It's believed they have as many as 2 million Sunday Ticket subs, but they've already lost over 7 million subscribers since their peak in 2017. 2 million of that in just the last 4 quarters. These losses exceed the gains from DirecTV Now, but that service doesn't have a customer acquisition north of $700-800 each (which is why they lock you into contracts).

They'll survive, but it will be a major hit over the summer, yeah. It will be mitigated by contracts and when they expire, but it will certainly drive churn in a significant way over the next year or two.

Felt like the Hackett hiring was contingent on also getting Aaron Rodgers. Hackett was clearly not ready for the job since he had to hire someone for game management

Feels like McCarthy has to go to the Superbowl to keep his job. I'm sure Jerry Jones is going to go after Sean Payton and would be willing to trade whatever to get Payton.

So far it's Panthers, Denver, and Indy. Panthers still has a chance for for division title if they win out. If they win out, I think Wilks has a chance to keep job. I can see the possibility of Houston and Arizona jobs opening up

In that case, I'll still threaten to cancel haha. I do hope they stay afloat through this for sure.

FYI you'll be able to buy it separately without paying for the tv package.

They'll stay afloat. Streaming still isn't ready for most people, just large cities. Then you lose too much without being able to pause, switch back and forth, pickup where you left off, etc. A lot of the satellite subscribers have no real options because of poor bandwidth. It's also easy to power the dish and TV if you lose power and internet, you can't fix your internet yourself if you are in say FL with hurricanes, etc.

Directv was sold off so I doubt they are planning to shut it down soon. The satellite part is probably moving to maintenance mode only though. I doubt they launch a new satellite but who knows. Looks like they are moving to streaming as a backup for rain fade and will probably move to just connecting the DVR to internet and skipping the satellite.

Streaming also isn't cheap enough for everything you lose. As long as they keep giving me discounts I'll stay.

They're probably going to want to do that sooner rather than later though. Companies fail when they react too slowly to technology and they are in that territory imo

Definitely as they haven't released a new DVR in a long time. The ATT purchase killed the R&D they were working on and now who knows what they want to do. I can't stand the TV app as it just sucks and doesn't work well. If they are relying on TV manufacturers to provide "device", it's not going to work out well without a rewrite.

Back on topic, this is going to suck for bars. I doubt most bars are paying enough for internet to be able to stream that many games. You also can't sync the TVs like you did with the DTV equipment. I don't even think anything at a consumer level exist to sync the data to the different TVs showing the same game.

I'm sure you can rig something up with chromecast and hdmi splitters but that is limiting, will require PCs, and the picture still will be a lower quality.

For those of you who have YouTube TV.....how delayed from live are the streams?

The thing I absolutely hate about having to stream tv (and thus live games) is the delay from actual live, especially being online and interacting and whatnot during games. And of course the stability worries having to rely on an internet connection. I can just envision things going down during especially tense moments.

Unfortunately I won't be able to have regular Directv satellite at my new place due to costs and have to go with this streaming stuff exclusively.
