Re: 2012 NFL Draft Thread.
Lets see what he does on the field, I remember reacting this way to TJ Ward a couple years ago and hes turned out to be a good player, had a great rookie year and was dinged up last year.
I'll let Hughes show hes a bust first, Heckert has done pretty well finding diamond in the rough types.
So Heckert has shown he can draft good defensive players...
...so yeah, we'll see how Hughes turns out.Comment

Re: 2012 NFL Draft Thread.
Apparently Hughes was expecting to go in the 4th round, had the most interest from Browns, Bears, and Saints it sounds like.
Said he was expecting to go 4th round and had invited family to come over and watch the draft with him tomorrow morning.
So not as huge of a reach as it orignally seemed if he was thinking he was going in round 4, he would have been hearing from teams first hand so they must like him as a rotational DT.Last edited by IlliniM1ke; 04-27-2012, 11:43 PM.Favorite Teams:

Re: 2012 NFL Draft Thread.
Yeah, I like this kid. Over and over.
I especially love the Ravens got themselves another OLB pass rusher to hopefully help Suggs.
No guarantees of course, but I especially like what the Bucs did. If last year is just a one year of bad coaching, it might have been the best thing Raheem Morris did - suck bad last year so the Bucs could get solid picks"Some people call it butterflies, but to him, it probably feels like pterodactyls in his stomach." --Plesac in MLB18Comment

Soo if I recall not a single FSU or UF player has been drafted, kinda shocking.Saints, LSU, Seminoles, Pelicans, Marlins, LightningComment

I didn't want to see another AFC West team take Hillman, but he should be a pleasant surprise for the Broncos. I don't understand most of the "negatives" I've read leading up to the draft but he does have some things he needs to work on.
Of course I'm a bit biased though since he's from SDSU. He did really well in college.Comment

Re: 2012 NFL Draft Thread.
Here's a pretty good article about Hughes, sounds like he was a late bloomer, coasted early in his career and kind of took things for granted, realized he could do better and really pushed himself and it paid off.
Warming up to the pick, he'll have to show he was worth the pick on the field but Heckert has a pretty good track record with his defensive picks.

Idk I just never was a huge fan of Lamar, other then VT in college he didn't run well against decent/good defenses IMO. Has some good measurables, but I'm not sure he'll succeed in the NFLSaints, LSU, Seminoles, Pelicans, Marlins, LightningComment

I'm just hoping that Spielman decides to draft Brandon Washington out of Miami. I love the guy, as well as teammate Tommy Streeter. Kheeston Randall is one I'm looking at too so that we can have someone beside Kevin Williams.--
