Re: Best QB in the NFL

I think it's a three way fight between Brady, Brees and Rodgers. They each bring different things to the table that make them unique and special. Interestingly all three probably "make" their receivers and such better than they are production wise though we've seen that New England is probably closer to a system that you can just plug and play what with Cassel's success his one year as the starter. It remains to be seen how QB ready the other two teams are.

Anyways, I guess i'll put Rodgers at #1 with Brady just a tad behind though my mind changes regularly on this topic at the moment these days.

I know I'll get blasted, but Brady is terribly overrated. Sure, he is top 5 in the league but ESPN has brainwashed everyone in to thinking that he is one of the all-time greats. Brady is notorious for short passes that go for large gains. Most QBs with any kind of ability can do that.

It's easier then a long pass, but you have to be just as accurate if not more for that short pass to even have a chance to go for a big gain. If a WR has to adjust to the ball(turning around, behind him or whatever) he's not going to get any YAC

Even if this was legit, it still doesn't account for reading the defense before the snap and making adjustments after, which is HUGE. But basically, you don't criticize a player for taking what the defense gives you and basically saying "I'll still beat you this way." He gets so many underneath passes bc the defense is scared to give him windows down field. He doesn't have the biggest arm in the league but he has a very accurate deep ball. I think Randy Moss proved that he doesn't just go underneath.

I also think this year's trip to the SB (when the defense was pretty much terrible and the running game was suspect) showed that the team may be strong enough to put together a decent record some years (Cassell) but other years, their QB can still carry a healthy load. I'm one who doesn't believe Brady has ever been the absolute best QB in the NFL in any one given year, but I don't know if he's been lower than #2 in a very, very long time (not counting his injured year of course).

Exactly, it's also a matter of personnel as you mentioned with Randy Moss. If a QB has that slot possession WR or speedy 3rd type HB you're gonna want to get him involved in places to make plays and that's usually not plenty of deep shots.

Drew Brees is my favorite QB, love his game, and his grit and how he maximizes his ability.

That being said, imo, Aaron Rodgers is the best QB in the game right now. If I had to pick a QB to build a team around, it would be Aaron Rodgers, guy can literally do it all.

Have to go with Eli Manning or Aaron Rodgers.

Eli just seems to come alive after week 10 and get on these incredible runs.

As for Aaron Rodgers he is just dynamic.

                  IMO it's,

                  1. Brady
                  2. Brees
                  3. Eli Manning/Rodgers

Eli is a real real real good QB, but he is not Top 3.

One of these days we will come to the realization that we give QBs too much credit and too much blame.

                    Brady

When elis on point only Rodgers imo is better then him. Eli problem like others have said is his consistency.

I might be the only guy on the planet who think Rodgers is slightly overrated. He's great...no doubt, but he has lot of talent around him and when the talent doesn't play well, he doesnt play quite as well. I think Brady is better at making his teammates better and flat out winning.

Greg Jennings is elite no doubt but everyone else is average. Finley is a talented te who has a case of the drops. Their run game sucks an OL is average at best. That's my view on his surrounding talent.

You are right, however, it is a decent argument to make.

Brady did a lot with much less in his early NE years.
