It's not that people don't want Kickers and Punters in the HOF, but they should have just as strong case as any other position in football to get into the Hall of Fame. You say they shouldn't be allowed period, others are saying that they should be considered just like all the other positions in football. Don't make make things out to be what they're not.

It's impossible for a kicker or a punter to have as strong of a case as any other position in football.

Why? It's a position in football. You're telling me they shouldn't be allowed to be in the Hall of Fame which is complete garbage imo. I'm not saying that Shane Lechler should be getting into the Hall of Fame over Peyton Manning, but they should have the opportunity.

Guys who play maybe 4 snaps a game should not be in the hall. Not to mention they aren't even football players.

I mean seriously? Someone in this thread tried to state Lechler had a bigger impact on his teams success than someone like Jerry Kramer, or Terrell Davis or Drew Pearson? Are we being serious here?

What's your argument then for Lechler (or any punter/kicker) getting in over Terrell Davis?

Last I checked Punters and Kickers are being paid well over a quarter million to play the sport football on football teams in the National Football League. They're not 6 foot 5 and have huge muscles, but they play football.

Punters and Kickers are a huge part of the game. Imagine having to go for it on every 4th down and you couldn't get a Field Goal. That'd be a a totally new way to play football and would change the game drastically.

I can make an argument for Vinitieri over Davis. Vinitieri was a part of 4 SB wins and made huge kicks to help. He is probably more remembered than 75% of guys that are in the HOF all things considered. Over Davis b/c of the longevity that he has that Davis didn't. Just my opinion.

BUT again, it's not an either or situation. Putting kickers in doesn't have to mean leaving out guys at other positions, even if they have to wait a few more years like Carter and Brown and Monk.

Football players? Could you please define that for me because you and I seem to be working with crucially definitions? I consider it any person who plays the game of football. Last I checked, punting and kicking are part of the game of football. I'm not sure how you can say punters and kickers are not football players.

Great. Doesn't make them HOF worthy. They should make a quarter million. The NFL minimum is $480K.

My argument isn't saying that Lechler is more deserving than Davis. My argument is that Punters and Kickers should be allowed into the Hall of Fame if worthy.

Davis carried two teams to SBs A Kicker no matter how good he was ever carried an offense. Or at least an offense that was successful.

you would really put Vinateri in before Davis? Wow.

You really think that Davis is THAT Hall of Fame worthy?

I understand what your argument it.

But to prove that shouldn't you be able to make an argument for a kicker/punter versus others on the ballot?

What's your argument for a kicker/punter verse any player on the last couple ballots that didn't make it in?
