It's hard to say what exactly will happen with his contract, he has a guaranteed base salary over the next couple of seasons and unpaid bonuses that the Patriots will almost certainly try and prevent payment due to the events leading to his release. I would be surprised if a team is going hear enough between now and the deadline tomorrow to want to claim him off waivers with a $40m+ contract and an uncertain future. He's almost certainly facing a suspension of an unknown duration (and at worst case indefinitely) and a short leash thereafter.

I figure this was their way of saying "we'll show them" after Hernandez's lawyer mouthed off about how there was no arrest forthcoming. You could tell by the way he was dressed that Hernandez didn't expect it.Comment

Re: Aaron Hernandez Saga
Could there be something in the contract about if he gets arrested and put in jail X amount of bonus dollars is void? Damn if I was the Patriots I just would of rostered him and put him on a not able to play list or something because thats a huge hole in their salary nowComment

This is a long shot but when they first handcuffed him I thought to myself if they have a Transport Directive in their SOP, they could just be transporting him to HQ for an interview. May sound stupid but some agencies are not allow to transport folks in their Cruisers unless they are handcuffed.
However, if that was the case you wouldn't have seen 6 Detectives.
And I think the tell tale sign is the Patriots releasing him. I don't believe they would try to distance themselves for an obstructing charge. So my guess is we will see an Obstructing and Hindering Charge and an Accessory to Murder-After. Just my guess and I don't know Attleboro's charging language.Texas A&M Aggies

Like ND said if that report from earlier is correct about no bail that would lean towards him being charged with the murder. Obstructing in most jurisdiction do not include a no bail status. And even with a Murder charge his attorneys will tell the judge he is not a flight risk and try to have him put on house arrest until the trial.
However, that report could mean he will be charged with obstructing and transported to Jail until the bail is posted. But with the kind of money he has I wouldn't even see him being transported to a jail prior to making bail.Texas A&M Aggies

No bail pretty much means that they have hard evidence in this case and they don't want to let him go with the possibility of if they HAD to come get him again that he might not be there.
