Thoughts on the world in which we live:

We know a lot of things about Aaron Hernandez, because for all intents and purposes, with the evidence we have been shown, and the things that have come out about him over the last 2 months, its safe to say most of us have the same opinion on the type of dude he is.

Let's pretend for a minute though, that he wasn't an idiot, and lets pretend that in this alternate reality, Lloyd is just a missing person. We would be having damn tributes to this guy. The Patriots would be dedicating seasons to these people. Twitter, Facebook would be blowing up about these 2 people in Aaron Hernandez's life, and a missing "would be brother in law".

Its funny because if 1 person didn't do their job, and something was overlooked, the entire world would be looking at this guy in such a different perspective whereas years ago, it wouldn't have been so mainstream, we would hear something, and not feel the need to have 20 million dedications, or care about what the death of the uncle of an NFL player really meant, but today, we feel the need for everyone with an opinion to be heard and have an impact.

I dont feel anything about the situation. I know people died, and It sucks, but billions of people have died in the history of the world, I dont know those people, I don't know Hernandez, truthfully I could care less about the dude, but because he is in my face every 30 seconds with news and twitter and facebook telling me hes a peice of trash, I somehow have a very strong opinion of a dude Ive never met. Ive probably only been within 50 miles of the dude like 5 times in my life when he played the jets or giants in Jersey. I sit back and I think, who really does care? The dude that is just like me yet feels jusrtified in flipping out on an internet forum? Whats worse, that or a major news organization sharing a tweet from that same person, and other people shaking their head like "yeah, he's right".

A guy is dead, people care about him. Family, friends, loved ones. A guy is in jail for murdering him, people care about him, family friends and loved ones. We dont care about either, we only pretend we do because its a part of our lived in this social media generation.

I think you're taking discussion about the oddities of this case as caring, which isn't true in the least.

I could not care less about Aaron Hernandez, yet the case intrigues me. As do all cases (famous people or not) that have weird twists and such in them.

There are some people out there who have no personal relationship to either that do care, but they're pretty ignorant by and large.

True. I wasn't necessarily making commentary about these forums, which i should have made that clear, it was more or less "The world in general", yet OS is the only place I post lol.

LOL, how are you going to let a gun that you killed two people with hang around for a year? That thing would be long gone in a place no one would ever think to find it if it were me.

So not enough for Murder One or Two? Interesting, unless in the state of Mass. that is what those charges mean. Less of a burden of guilt I would assume. Which would lead me to believe their case isn't as strong as has been reported. But I am no lawyer, and most of what I know comes from Law & Order over the years FWIW.

That was the initial news, now being reported he's been indicted for first-degree murder. Indictment hasn't been officially released yet.

When I went to start my other post I started by typing 'indicted for murder' but noticed the headlines weren't running with that, so stuck to what they were saying.

In some states there is no murder one or murder two, just murder and manslaughter.

Rolling Stone has a story coming out about Hernandez. Details include:

                                • Hernandez was a heavy user of angel dust, and had become so paranoid over the last year that he carried a gun wherever he went.

                                • He surrounded himself with a cohort of gangsters, and cut himself off from his family and teammates.

                                • Hernandez had so infuriated his head coach, Bill Belichick, with missed practices and thug-life stunts, that he was one misstep from being cut.

                                • Both his parents, Dennis and Terri, had criminal records, as did much of his extended family.

                                • Terri allegedly cheated on Dennis before his death with a violent drug dealer named Jeffrey Cummings, then married Cummings after Dennis died and moved him into the house she shared with Aaron.

                                • In college his coach (then-University of Florida head coach Urban Meyer) may have helped cover up failed drug tests, along with two violent incidents — an assault and a drive-by shootout outside a local bar.
