Stories like this just makes it easy to pick out people who have never even dared to think about how other people live.

Re: 2014 NFL Draft Discussion Thread
I feel like with the "well-run organizations" with great leadership top to bottom, like New England or something, it wouldn't be a problem. Distraction? Maybe a little at the beginning. But was it any less distracting to the Patriots when Aaron Hernandez is going through a murder investigation? It's not like the team imploded with that. Have we heard a thing about Manti T'eo causing any distractions since he entered the league? I know it's not exactly the same, but in the end if he's a good player, it's not going to make any difference. It didn't make any difference to the guys in Missouri's locker room.Comment

Hm, maybe things weren't so rosy after all in Mizzou
Apparently TE Eric Waters had something to say on Twitter. I dunno what to believe so i'm just passing this along as "information".Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Re: 2014 NFL Draft Discussion Thread
People talking about how Sam is the Jackie Robinson of our time need to calm the **** down.
It's a pretty ballsy thing to do, no doubt about it. But do I think Sam is going to face a tenth of the amount of pressure that Robinson faced? Absolutely not.
With that being said, Sam will go the way of Jason Collins if he isn't very good. And just like a ton of other straight male athletes, he won't be drafted in the NFL if a team doesn't think he'll be an NFL player.
Personally, when I watched him this year, I thought he was a really great pass rusher in college. He's a little small, but so is Elvis Dumervil. Curious to see what he does at the next level.Too Old To Game Club

Re: 2014 NFL Draft Discussion Thread
Why are the Rams sold on Bradford? Has he been good when healthy?

Re: 2014 NFL Draft Discussion Thread
He was having his best season before injury during the Week 7 game against Carolina. At the time the only QB that had more TD passes was named Peyton. Under Jeff Fisher when Sam is the QB, the Rams have a winning record against the NFC West, which is a tall feat. I think this year is truly the make or break year for him. People have to remember what he came into and now he finally has some talent around him, he gets hurt.
I think the Rams need to draft a QB in the mid rounds, not only to groom just in case Bradford isn't the real deal but for injury insurance as well. I won't be able to handle noodle arm Clemens again if Sam get hurt.

Well, it is called a "Mock Draft" and not a "this is definitely what is going to happen draft". It's a guessing game, especially this far out. Plus nobody likes to include trades in their mocks, Which is beyond me.

Re: 2014 NFL Draft Discussion Thread
I would throw in my two cents about Michael Sam, but it would only lead to 2 pages of unrelated sexuality talk....
Any way, I thought it would be interesting to compare some prospects to NFL players. I'll start with QBs and might do more positions if this generates enough discussion.
(Note: these are not perfect comparisons, I might compare a prospect to a combination of two players. Just because I compare a player to a great QB doesn't mean he is going to be as successful, it just means I see similarities in their play)
Teddy Bridgewater-->Geno Smith: decent mobility, good arm strength and accuracy, but a little messy
Blake Bortles-->Andrew Luck: big [underrated] athlete, has all the tools
Johnny Manziel--> Russell Wilson + Michael Vick: FREAK athleticly, has a good arm, but undersized which could lead to injury
Derek Carr-->Jay Cutler:good arm, underrated mobility, some what sloppy footwork
Jimmy Garropolo-->Tony Romo: haven't seen much of him, but I have seen others compare him to romo. Plus the both went to Eastern Illinois.
AJ McCarron-->(don't freak out just listen)Peyton Manning: hyped college player, doesn't have a big or terribly accurate arm (like Peyton TODAY--not mid 2000s Peyton), but is smart (ok now am I slightly less crazy?)
David Fales-->Drew Brees: accurate, a little undersized, doesn't have huge arm
Tajh Boyd--> a shorter EJ Manuel: well built, good mobility, but can get it done inside the pocket as well as outside
Aaron Murray-->Drew Brees: see Fales
Brett Smith-->Alex Smith: decent athlete, very accurate, won't wow you but will get the job done
Will do more if you like these!Last edited by CBoller1331; 02-10-2014, 10:10 PM.Chicago Cubs

Re: 2014 NFL Draft Discussion Thread
I think your AJ McCarron = Manning comparison is interesting. I can see it myself except IIRC when Manning was drafted he was thought of as a franchise QB right away whereas McCarron doesn't have that profile. He does fit that cerebral QB mold and honestly, I can't think of any other NFL QB that fits that model other than Manning.
If McCarron gets a legitimate shot I think he'll end up being David Krieg type. A guy who is well versed on the game but probably doesn't have all the physical tools to translate that into consistent success.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

I by no means think AJ will be as successful a QB as Peyton, just a few similarities.Chicago Cubs

Re: 2014 NFL Draft Discussion Thread
Bridgewater is a much better prospect that Geno Smith due to his acumen with a pro style offense and his knowledge of making defensive reads. It's not even close.NCAA: Michigan Wolverines
MLB: St. Louis Cardinals
NHL: St. Louis Blues
NFL: Pittsburgh Steelers
EPL: Liverpool RedsComment
