Doesn't mean it's the way things should be handled. Cam isn't Peyton or Russel so I think that's sorta irrelevant.Comment

I don't think Cams reaction is a big deal no matter how you slice it. But Harris being within earshot doesn't give Cam authority to just flake out like that. Don't see how that makes this better.
I forgot to mention, I'm happy Demarcus Ware got his ring. And oh so happy he got it while not being a Dallas Cowboy. That guy is a beast. Hopefully one day Witten can get one too, while being on the Jags or something.Comment

He'll be fine in that regard.
If people can forgive Lebron James(who did and said a lot WORSE than anything Cam has said)after awhile, then they'll forgive him.#RespectTheCultureComment

In an interview, Newton talked about "why can't I" all these things of other quarterbacks. If he wants those things, then he needs to do it and not just suggest it or expect it. You want the respect of a Peyton Manning? Act the part.
Guys like Russell, Manning, Brady, all these guys have handled that situation the right way. He can't? That's not a problem with the situation. Maybe he wears his emotions on his sleeve a bit more, that's fine. But don't expect people to say "Oh, Cam Newton, he's a consummate professional."
People are considering T.O. for the HoF after the guy has done and said the things he has, so it's not like people are going to curse Newton forever because of this. Just a current talking point.Comment

Could you really imagine the fallout of Cam saying/doing some of the **** LeBron has?

Free agency is not as big in the NFL as it is in the NBA, and that is the only reason backlash would be different.
Other than that the NFL "demographic" is the same as the NBA.Comment

When everyone before you has taken that same situation and handled it professionally, and you cannot, that's not a reflection of the situation but a reflection of yourself.

I also think the entire Denver team is OK with it. Manning carried them the years past, and it was time to do the same for Manning. Manning taught these guys a lot when it came here. Listen to all of them say how much he helped them was their preparations. That's what a leader does.
It was the defense that carried this team, no question. But let's give Manning the love he deserves. We speak bad about him when he can't win it all by himself, so now let him get his praise for when he doesn't have to.Comment

Just watched the Cam post SB press conference.
Well, that was not good.
Maybe they should have the option to wait and do those the next day.
On an unrelated note....was it just me or did Eli not look that elated for his big bro.
Jeez...everyone grow up.Comment

Very interesting article about the Cam stuff and Peyton's similar reaction from the Colts SB loss to New Orleans. Plus a story from his UT days that I've never heard.
I don't post this to bring up race, more to show that I was wrong when I said earlier that any player would be treated the same way that Cam is had they done something similar. And to bring this other story to light about Peyton.
While quarterback for the Tennessee Volunteers, a respected trainer, Jamie Ann Naughright, testified that while she bent down to look at Peyton Manning's feet, he pulled his pants down and sat his testicles on her face. Within hours of the incident, she reported it to the sex crimes division at the University of Tennessee.Comment

When I brought up Lebron, I was moreso talking about his comments after his team lost in the Finals his 1st year in Miami and he basically said that at the end of the day, he would still be rich and famous and that everyone else would still have to go back to living their miserable lives, etc. He got killed for that and rightfully so but eventually people moved on and forgave him and you rarely hear that moment get brought up.
That's what I meant when I said Cam will be fine in regards to the whole "role model" part just to clarify.#RespectTheCultureComment
