The AFCCG had multiple punches thrown, it seems like the refs are gonna jump on anything early. Calling it real tight
Bills, Sabres, Illini, Cubs, basically any team that abuses its fanbase and I'm there.

OK, dumb question here. The Chiefs had 1st and 10 from the 28, and then run a play that gains 15 yards but get called for offensive holding. The refs then walk the 10 yards back from the END of the play rather than the LOS and give KC 1st and 5 from the 23.

Is that correct? I thought holding on a scrimmage play was always counted back from the LOS.

That's correct. Offensive holding is a spot foul, and you replay the down.

So in your example, the hold was called 15 yards downfield from the LOS.

Why is it 1st and 5 then? It's seems strange loophole to me that KC commits a foul and gains yards and has an easier conversion as a result.

They lost 10 yards though. Could have gone for 90, would still be 1st and 5 with an offensive hold 15 yards downfield from the LOS, and they'd only gain 5.

The vast majority of offensive holding is at the line of scrimmage, so this doesn't come up a ton, since pick plays and most other offensive penalties like it are OPI and assessed from the LOS.

The hold is counted off from where the penalty occurs.

Exactly, it’s why Garoppolo tore his ACL tryna truck a linebacker to score from the 10 yard line on 3rd and GOAL. You won’t be winning any points in the locker room that way

Watched highlights of the Panthers game. This OL is so awful and Darnold can't operate behind it. The defense played well enough this game should've been a 20 point rout

Instead it's a terrible loss in a winnable game

I've never been as excited about anything as Collinsworth is about KC sending a blitz.
