That’s a nice haul of picks but if I were Seattle I’d rather be settled at the QB position than have all those picks

Hasn't that described their situation for the past several years though?

I'm just glad the Steelers didn't have to give up what Denver paid or what Green Bay did to keep Rodgers. The big QBs will most likely be gone, hopefully #99 out of Georgia or one of the good OL will be there.

I don't think its a silly reason. You were a fan of the guy and not just the production.

I think people overvalue 1st round picks. He's an above average starter and though still young has shown some consistency putting up numbers in a offense thats not pass heavy. He was top 10 in receiving yards by a tight end and only 24. I think thats good enough to argue he is worth a late 1st to late 2nd. I imagine part of the negotiations involved Denver saying his value is that of a 1st and Seattle saying its a 2nd. Whats the old saying, a bird in the hand is worth more than 2 in the bush? Or something like that lol
Before I respond any further or to your notion that Fant is worth a 1st round pick(which I disagree with BTW)are you saying that you believe Denver values Fant as a 1st rd pick?

It has, but nothing about the current regimes recent history drafting tells me they’re going to use these picks wisely and make the team better than they are now with Wilson

You can't just point to his age, you have to point to his NFL experience. He's been in the league for three years, which means he has likely reached or is approaching his peak production. Guys with star potential flash it by this point, even on bad teams.

Fant has gotten yards because he's been forcefed targets. He's barely crested average on advanced metrics for a reason. And he has a penalty problem, limiting his upside as a blocker. He's not a bum or anything, but he's pretty much just-a-guy, and JAGs aren't worth a first. The cost-control you get is extremely valuable.
Bills, Sabres, Illini, Cubs, basically any team that abuses its fanbase and I'm there.

Not exactly. More like Denver trying to convince Seattle that he is equivalent to a 1st or 2nd.

The report is that negotiations went on for two weeks. What I'm suggesting is that Seattle had an asking price that Denver didn't want to directly meet, so these two weeks have been a back and forth of Denver trying different combinations of equivalent value. And they probably had to do some selling in that process.

Edit: I'm going to walk back on this a bit. I was wrong on where the Broncos are picking this year. Didn't realize they had a top 10 pick, thought it was closer to 15th. They actually pick ahead of Washington which I did not think was the case

Fair, but they couldn't have done nothing. And trades in the NFL that are more of player swaps aren't common.

Titans OLB Landry signs a 5 year deal

"Seahawks informed eight-time All-Pro and Pro-Bowl LB Bobby Wagner, a franchise icon, that they are releasing him, per source.

Wagner arrived in Seattle on the same 2012 day as Russell Wilson and now leaves the same day, too. End of an era in Seattle.".

I would definitely be interested in Wagner if I'm a contender

Saves over $16M in cap. They are going full rebuild now, so I would try to make a run at Lockett or DK. Carroll is 70, so how long of a rebuild are they trying to do, unless they have a succession plan

And Wagner technically can sign now

Yeah it was an expected move. Lot of local news been floating his name as one of the Raven's targets this year

Strange off season for Seattle. Clearly they’re blowing it all up and starting over, but how long is Carroll sticking around. They have more pressing needs, but I wouldn’t mind Wagner on theBears since they need LBs

Especially with their sketchy drafting history and trading two firsts for a box safety.
They have needs all over, where I don't think Carroll will see it through. Maybe he coaches until 74-75, but I'd imagine he would want to slow down.

What will they do with Adams? What a horrific trade for them in hindsight.

I could see the Jets going after DK with one of their 1s.
