    Re: Official Denver Broncos Thread

Well find out about the Broncos after the end of October. There schedule is tough this month. Then you will know.
Not going to lie though, this quote from downstairs pisses me off.

Really? We don't know anything about them now? I am well aware that they have a tough schedule, but going 5-0 is no easy feat.

I'm not saying they are amazing. But certainly at this point they deserve more than we will see about them at the end of October.

Imo- as soon as the Broncos lose a game the media and posters will bring out the "see, they're not real" junk, even if its just one game. Anyone that will only give credit if the Broncos sweep the hard schedule is simpy a *****.

Broncos for 2 games in a row vs teams that people said will tell them how Broncos are, have held out them from scoring. Not only did they goose-egg the Cowboys and Patriots in the 2nd half, they stopped Brady 3 times in a row, with no break compliments of stupid ST play

That's what annoys me, no one here is claiming they are Super Bowl bound, yet the second they lose, posters will be out in full force saying how deceiving their record is.

I don't worry too much about what others say, but listening to the same crap week after week gets old.

How many weeks do they have to win a game that will define them only to have to hear that they have to win NEXT's weeks game.

This season is so reminiscent of the 1977 season. No one gave that team any credit all year. When they beat the Raiders in the regular season, it was luck. When they beat the Raiders for the AFC Championship game, the Broncos won on a bad call. They get beat in the Super Bowl, it was, "See, told you they were terrible." What both teams had/have was/is an untrusted QB, a kick butt defense, and in reality, a good team.

The Broncos will be the underdogs; the bastards at the family reunion all season... I wouldn't want it any other way.

How amazing is Orton by the way. The guy simply refuses to lose at home and we're going on 6 games with no turnovers (I'm not counting that crap at the end of the 1st half). He has yet to kill this team on a turnover, I love it.

            Kyle Orton season stats:
            104/165 (63%), 1236 yds, 7 tds, 1 int*, 8 sacks. 97.4 rating.

Royal and Marshall had a stat line today that we're used to seeing, I wonder how much the playbook will start to open up with Orton gloveless now.

Anyone else notice Hillis being in the dog house still? I figured we'd see him on short yardage but I dont remember seeing him do it in any games so far

It's a shame because for whatever reason, and as tough a runner as Moreno is, he cannot pick up the short yardage (not necessarily his fault, but for whatever reason it doesn't work).

I think Hillis needs to be in on short yardage situations.

                Kyle Orton

Orton's interception was his first in 173 attempts, dating back to when he played for the Bears
                Yes please. I'll take that.

So much for my 7-9 prediction at this point, barring any team implosion.

Moss had 1 catch, I guess Bailey will suffice

The first timeout that the Broncos had to call was due to Hillis lining up on the wrong side, Orton had to redirect him all the way to the other side. Hillis may be on a short leash. Weird, McD raved over him during the preseason.

Barring an implosion, there goes my 5-11 prediction.

Interesting stat in favor of the Broncos

That ball includes a 59-7 scoring edge and 1,158-501 yard advantage in second halves this year. Opponents have converted just 2 of 30 third downs after halftime.

So, anyone have a question as to who's the leader on the defense?

                      Answer:

Good God, the Broncos could go 19-0 and people would still say they haven't proven anything yet,

"lets wait to see what they do in the offseason."

                          Bowlen on Marshall

BOSTON — Broncos owner Pat Bowlen said Josh McDaniels is maturing into the head coach he expected him to be and that WR Brandon Marshall is playing himself into a “significant raise.”

“Brandon understands that he’s got a year left on his present deal, but if he keeps playing the way he is, he’s going to get a very significant raise — a much better contract,” Bowlen said Tuesday at the NFL Fall League Meeting. “That’s the way it goes, and Brandon has accepted that.”

Marshall, who asked to be traded and later was suspended because of insubordinate behavior at a preseason practice, has played well the past two weeks for the 5-0 Broncos. At least publicly, Marshall has shown a more amicable attitude toward McDaniels after a contentious offseason.

As for McDaniels and his team’s hot start, Bowlen said, “Things couldn’t be any better.”

Bowlen went on: “We took some early criticism hiring a young coach — he was 32 years old at the time — and were questioned about what he was going to be able to do. He’s been terrific. It’s been extremely important as we got into the process of him being a head coach, that the way he’s handled particular situations was well beyond his years. He’s proven he is ready.”

Bowlen singled out the way McDaniels singularly absorbed the criticism for trading Pro Bowl QB Jay Cutler to the Bears in exchange for Kyle Orton and draft picks, although it was an organizational decision.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Marshall's interview with Michael Irvin. I thought it was pretty good.

Same old really, lots of talking. I rather see Marshall do it this time.

He needed to do the talking though. He needed to say "I let the emotions get the best of me" and "it was childish". It still may not be true but he didn't say "but" to anything... he owned up. That's step one. Step two is proving it and so far he's doing a good job there too.
