With a quick look at stats, Cassel this season had 516 attempts with 513 rushing attempts

In '07 Brady had 578 attempts and the team had around 450 rushes.

For the Broncos this season, Cutler attempted 616 passes and the team rush attempts was 387.

(QB's included but that should give you a rough idea)

Herm just got canned by KC. I read on Yahoo that there are rumors that they would bring Shanahan in. I think the source is profootballtalk.com

They like to speculate a lot so I wouldn't bank on it yet.

Shanahan does like KC's young talent but he doesnt have Slowik to bring in and Gunther is out, atleast for now.

Our salary cap will be around $34 million. Apparently if we follow through with cleaning house on defense, we could potentially reach around $50 million to spend.

Here is an interesting read and gives a brief description of what the Broncos may need to go 3-4. I think the Broncos will have to make some major moves to get there, and be effective.

Nice find Hammer. Collier was on The Fan earlier this week and the one thing I hope the Broncos heard, go all in for 3-4 if you're going to switch.

Carlton Powell - I wonder if he's added any strength and weight? He was a run stuffer while at VT (4-3?) but who knows what he can do now.

This draft I'm excited for, every position on defense can be addressed. So many options

                Re: Official Denver Broncos Thread

It refers that the Broncos are in the assessment phase right now. In a 3-4, you develop inside out. That pretty much sums up the Broncos problems right now, even in a 4-3 scheme.
The noseguard is the key to the 3-4, and the only current lineman that has or can play the position is Robertson and he left NY to avoid playing the nose (I know I am rehashing what is said in the article, but to emphasize the shortcomings), and do they even have a mike backer with enough lead in his pencil to play in a 3-4?

My wonder is will the Broncos officially come out and announce a move to a 3-4 scheme, or will their moves infer to the change?

Call me crazy, but it is exciting to be a Broncos fan right now. Actually something to be following except for the same old same old.

We really dont have anyone to play 3-4 outside of DJ and Champ. Dumervil is a maybe, depends on his hand and if he's open to playing linebacker. Dewayne Robertson, I will be 100% shocked if he's back on the field for us; he and Bly need to either take a new cheaper contract or just cut them to make room for young guys who are hungry (see Woodyard)

We'll be running the 3-4, but I have a feeling it'll be some hybrid deal. Atleast we have a staff in place that is familiar with the 3-4 and what we need to be successful.

                    Re: Official Denver Broncos Thread

I can see a hybrid type as well. Because it would be the first year and there would be no telling what personel we would have in there.

I've read some things about having M. Thomas play DE. That could work.

The thing with the draft is it's between Maualuga and Raji. You can't go wrong with either or. I'd be happy no matter what.

If I had to pick it would be Maualuga, though. One because it'd be tough to ask a rookie to be the most important piece of the defense in his first year (Raji.) And two, because a big problem with our D was our lack of intensity and testosterone. Maualuga would really help that out a lot. He is crazy. (Although USC players have said that Rey is nothing compared to how intense Cushing is.) I wouldn't mind getting Cushing in the 2nd if he slips and we take Raji in the first.

I do agree with you guys that it is pretty exciting be a Bronco fan right now.

I say draft the entire USC defense, lol. Immediate upgrade.

Anyone watch the Senior Bowl last night? I watched the first half and Maualuga had a few nice plays; the one I liked was reading screen and getting there right as the ball was caught to stop it.

Raji had an ok half from what I saw. He wasnt really getting into the backfield a whole lot or pushing the line back any. Do we draft possibly 2 NT's in the draft as insurance?

LDE, RDE, NT, ILB x1 (counting Larsen as one) are must gets in the draft, atleast thats what it looks like. We could also use some physical corner's to replace Bly.

I forgot to look out for Peria Jerry last night. Kept switching back and forth with the X Games.

Looks like NFLN will be playing SB games all week so maybe after this week they'll re-air it.

I was hoping Graham Harrell would have a nice night but the guy has some issues with accuracy when he's taking snaps under center.
