I heard that Marshall has been pulling these antics when Shanahan was there also. Is this true Broncos fan?

McDaniels hinted at the same thing. Said he doesn't know if this was allowed before but its not now.

Marshall talks about changing and not talking about issues or "getting into the he said, she said". I'm tired of him talking.

Going into the offseason, theres 2 things that interest me. Do we give Orton a contract or does McDaniels entrust Brandstater with the offense. Or do we take a look at another young QB in the draft.

The second part, do we give Marshall his contract with a bunch of "if you get in trouble" clauses or let him go and get compensated. If Marshall goes, I have to believe McDaniels will want to find a reciever he likes early on in the draft. The young safeties waiting on the bench have saved us atleast one draft pick for another position of need

Once again you are spot on. I would love to see a true nose guard or a quality LB in the first round but at this time, anything is possible.

Where did I read that Shanahan may have gotten rid of Marshall this year because he was sick of his antics. I swear I read that but I have no proof.

I think it was a rumor that they were prepared to let him go. I dont think it would have went that way, I think it was more of Shanahan not trusting him and wanting to wait it out before deciding to give a large contract or not

            Yeah, probably.

Seeing a lot of Broncos not looking like they want to play next week.

On top of this crap, our Fox channel isn't showing the Eagles/Cowboys game.

Yea it came out after Shannahan was fired...I guess now we see why.

Disappointing end to the season. After watching today's game though, the Broncos clearly weren't a playoff team. A lot to look forward to, but there are also a ton of questions and holes that need to be filled...

The lack of a running game was the biggest issue this year IMO.

What is a bigger disappointment? Failing to win 1 game out of your final three to clinch a playoff spot or starting 6-0 and missing the playoffs? I can't pick either. It has pretty much sucked to be a Broncos fan since Plummer gave the Steelers the Super Bowl in 2005...

Man Broncos were awful today, a lot of weaknesses showed. It seemed that there could be a rift between some of the players and McDaniels as some didn't seem to care they were there.

First, Orton can not lead teams to victory. He isn't horrible, but he isn't what you want to say is your QB for 10 years. That said, I hope we don't resign him to a big contract and rather look at a QB maybe in the 1st or try out Brandstater.

Second, the defense needs some DL and an upgrade at LB.

Third, Alphonso Smith better make good progress or I'm going to feel bitter about giving up pick #14 this draft for this guy who couldn't do anything really this year.

Yea I agree with everything here.

I love Orton, he is a decent quarterback, a great teammate, and a leader.

His biggest weakness is he can not make a comeback. If the Broncos are down, he can't seem to make the plays to get them back. It's a shame because I do like him, he gave me a lot fewer heart attacks than Cutler ever did, but it is just frustrating to watch him try and lead a comeback...

At this point though, since we won't be resigning Marshall, I wouldn't mind resigning him to a 1 year contract (if he'll take it) while the Broncos groom Brandstater. I think it is clear at this point, the Broncos don't need a stud at QB, but they do need someone who can throw the ball down the field. Orton's only success at throwing downfield has been the defense wasn't expecting it at all.

And as much as I love Scheffler, and agree with his frustration, after reading what he said and the reason why he was sat, I don't want him around either...

I don't have an issue with McDaniel's sitting Marshall this game. I know a lot of people will give him tons of grief for it. But you had a group of team leaders go to him and tell him that he needed to make a hard-line stance. Sometimes doing the best thing for your team in the long run isn't the best thing in the short term. It may have cost them the game today and a shot at the playoffs, but the team leaders know their coach has their backs.

While some players may feel alienated right now, come training camp when all the veterans and leaders have Josh's back, they will fall in line.

I agree with everything else you said, but how did sitting Marshall cost the Broncos this game? I don't see that as being anywhere near the reason they lost...

Well, time to look onward. Here will be the non-divisional games for the Broncs: Arizona, San Fran, St. Louis, Seattle, Tennessee, Indy, Houston, Jacksonville, Jets, and Baltimore.

Hey, looks like another 8-8 season

Yeah, and if we draft a QB or start Brandstater, it could be worse but that is expected when rebuilding.
I see about the same next year, but as before this year, I want to see improvement.

I think he just meant sending out anything less than the best possible team could've aided in them losing... that's how I was reading it anyway.

Broncos fans, keep your heads up. The future looks good. I could see them getting another "Cutler-like" deal for Marshall (where they get a decent WR and a few nice draft picks in return)... maybe even from the Ravens. Honestly, unless the Ravens or Jets win the SB, making the playoffs would've just been a nice thing to check off. I don't believe any of the AFC wild card contending teams really deserved to be in the playoffs... the Ravens and Jets are just the two lucky enough to play another week (I actually think both can win next week but aren't going anywhere after that). In two years, if the Broncos aren't serious playoff contenders then I'd be worried.

We have the 10th pick in the first round through Chicago. We gave up the 14th pick for Alphonso "Who?" Smith.

Hopefully we dont make any dumb trades this year to move up (ie: Smith, Quinn). We'll see how the talent scouting goes with a full year under the staff's belt.

Could've had Maualuga in the 2nd round.. damn injury and a few other things scared teams away

Anyone remember how much money the Broncos will save and for how long if Shannahan becomes the coach of the Skins?

                                I know it's a pretty decent amount.
