    Re: Official Denver Broncos Thread

As a Broncos fan I wouldnt be completely opposed to it as long as we dont give up a lot considering McNabb is a short term fix...However that being said I do not see Eagles trading him unless they get a good player and a draft pick.

Would be weird that our Defensive and Offense Veteran leaders would both be ex-Eagles

Dont see how the trade would work out really. Theres no player(s) I would be willing to give up for a 33 year old QB along with multiple draft picks, potentially first day ones. Even if it were just draft picks for whatever odd reason, dont think I would do it still.

Would make the season interesting though.

Yea, I see it as an intriguing thought and nothing more.

The two teams don't really seem to have similar enough needs to make a trade. The Broncos don't NEED a QB desperately (not to mention an older one) and the Eagles don't really NEED to ship McNabb off that badly.

I just don't see enough need on either side to really push something like this into happening.

I personally like Orton...obviously not the QB of the future, but think it would be good to draft and good young QB and sit behind Orton for a year or so.

Bronco Fans, what's the deal on the Marshall front? Is it safe to say that he won't be a Bronco next season?

Could go either way really. Wouldn't be surprised if he stays or goes

LOL, I love your response, you sound like a politician. You know, that is how we Broncos fans are anymore. We have learned quickly in this new regime to never know what will happen. It is best not to predict one way or another, just not be surprised either way.

I think McNabb has enough good years left in the tank to make almost any team better for a while... but I don't like anything that could send him to Denver (for the reasons mentioned above). The best player that could be involved is Marshall and the Eagles don't need him, especially if they're shipping off McNabb.

Speaking of Marshall, I just read an interesting opinion on the situation. Marshall's temper tantrums have everything to do with feeling underpaid. Honestly, I think his general off the field problems are all but over... this year's issues were all acting up bc he wanted a new contract. So the Broncos should give him a market value 1 year deal. If it's true that he's a model citizen when paid accordingly, then all will be well. If he still shows signs of immaturity, then ship him out on the first bus after the season or work a trade for him before the season's over. Sounds like the best plan.

I agree with you about his off field actions. And I agree that your scenerio would be a perfect option for the Broncos but I seriously doubt Marshall would agree to a one year contract, in fact, I think that would lead to just more issues.

I think if the Broncos want to keep him, they pretty much have to pony up and give him the multi year contract he deserves. (I still don't fully understand how they can trade him if he is a restricted free agent even though it has been explained several times).

Their only other option would be to tag him, but I still think that would cause more problems than it is worth. It is pretty much time for them to make a decision on him. Keep him for the long term, or get rid of him...

                      Since we've discussed McNabb...

How about LT if he gets his release? Buckhalter and Moreno in the backfield so I know it wont happen but its something that's a bit intriguing atleast.

I got a small laugh out of this mock draft that discussed a LB/DE being a fit for the Broncos because of a late push in games and the senior bowl (name escapes me). Really reminds me of Ayers and the hype he started to really build on a short span.

I don't know. If Marshall means what he's been saying recently then he wouldn't act up again (it'd hurt him in getting a long term deal from DEN or anyone else). And if they pay him an insane amount for one year that might pacify him a bit, while giving him reason to try to play at a top level. I har what you're saying though.

Avrbas, DEN could be a good fit for LT. I think he'd get the nod over Buckhalter and what better way to stick it to your biggest rivals (at least until OAK gets back on the map).

                          Re: Official Denver Broncos Thread

Raise your right hand, Brandon Marshall.

Do you swear to tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth?

Because, so help me God, as Marshall prepares to take the witness stand in the Darrent Williams murder trial, I believe we are confronting what has been an unspoken, but monumental, reason why the great receiver has long been uncomfortable playing in Denver.

Marshall stated last fall that his disenchantment with playing for the Broncos wasn't about owner Pat Bowlen not giving him a robust contract, and I believe him. Marshall wants money, sure, but he'd rather get his paycheck from somewhere else.

Marshall also said during Super Bowl week that he has no personal misgivings about Broncos coach Josh McDan- iels, and again, I believe him. It's true, Marshall didn't care for the way McDaniels publicly called him out at season's end, but the former Central Florida star has survived far greater punishment.

"I come from the George O'Leary methods in college," Marshall said. "And it doesn't get any tougher than that."

Used to getting yelled at, then?

"Not just yelled at — degraded," Marshall said. "You do something wrong, 'Hey, bear crawl 200 yards. Wake up at 5 in the morning and do this.' "

Does that mean McDaniels isn't a monster?

"No, Josh isn't a monster," Marshall said. "Josh is actually easy to talk to, easy to work with."

A deeper truth about Marshall, though, is he has been left emotionally scarred by Williams' murder in the wee hours of Jan. 1, 2007. Marshall was with Williams minutes before his Broncos teammate and good friend died almost instantly from a bullet wound to the neck.

Preceding the shooting, police say there was an altercation outside The Shelter, a Broadway nightclub that was hosting a Kenyon Martin birthday-New Year's celebration that was attended by Williams and Marshall, among other former and current Broncos.

Marshall allegedly was involved in the fracas, which is why he is expected to testify during the next two weeks at the trial of gang member Willie Clark, who is charged with premeditated murder, among many other alleged crimes, in Williams' death.

I have never spoken to Marshall about that tragic night of Dec. 31, 2006-Jan. 1, 2007. I have spoken to several people close to Marshall, and they all say Williams' murder continues to torment him.

Besides lasting grief, he has endured guilt, even though he wasn't in Williams' limousine that had driven away just a few short blocks from the nightclub when it became riddled with bullets. The killing left Marshall frightened, which may explain why he has never spoken about that night publicly, at least not knowingly.

It wasn't until Marshall was allegedly fortified with 0.116 of truth serum while driving impaired on Oct. 22, 2007, that he revealed what may have been his deepest sentiments.

"I hate Denver," Marshall said, as written by the arresting officer in the police report.

"I hope I get traded. I hate this (bleeping) city."

Marshall has proved he doesn't really hate Denver. He has repeatedly said he loves the fans who have supported him through his capricious time here. A few lines down in that police report, though, came what may have been the root of all his fury.

"Why aren't you guys looking for Williams' killer?" Marshall told the officer.

Marshall later pled guilty to driving while impaired and received a year's probation that has since expired.

Receptions and trouble define Marshall's exhilarating and exasperating four-year term with the Broncos.

But he deserves credit for the admirable way he handled the murder of his friend. We all knew about his past problems with a former girlfriend.

He has never let us understand how arguably the worst moment in Broncos history has affected him.

Marshall has produced since Williams' death, posting three consecutive seasons of at least 100 catches. But Denver will forever carry a haunting memory. It's an under- stated, but not underrated, reason why Marshall would like to move on.

His final task in Denver may well come not from a football field but from a witness stand. You can't make this stuff up.
Its possible. Javon Walker left for more money but the Williams murder played a role in wanting a new start.

I forgot about that. The "story" was that Marshall escalated the situation before taking it off and his friend ended up shot. I can see him feeling a tremendous amount of guilt.

I always said Walker never recovered from that incident when people were claiming he was jealous of Marshall (bc he said something like let Marshall be the #1, he wanted to leave).

I would be interested, I wouldn't want to be captain but if I recall that didn't mean much since we pretty much decided together who we would pick.
