See Devin Thomas taken shots early
    It's just a small jab...

... but a guy fighting to make a team just to return kicks a couple of times a game shouldn't really be throwing shots at a team that drafted him in the 2nd round and gave him every opportunity to be an every day starter but he couldn't perform.

Yeah. Devin must've forgot how much support fans gave him and Davis. Moreso than Malcolm Kelly. Thomas showed up for one game. Against the Saints.

gonna miss jenkins this season. he wasn't a starter but the depth on the dline is gonna suffer greatly. i still think they will scour the cuts maybe for a replacement. i have liked what i have seen from this doug worthington. he may make the team now.

at qb, i say go with beck. cris carter made a good point this morning on the radio. he said that it is easier to turn to grossman later as the backup because you know what he brings to the table. makes total sense. play beck, if the falters you know what you got with the next man up. if it is reversed and rex starts and falls on his face, then you have a real unknown in beck coming in, could turn out really bad.

i do think the team is better than most expected. they went toe to toe with baltimore last night (a team many expect to be a serious contender) and were leading at halftime with 5 starters out, 2 of which being a couple of their best players. not too bad really. in past seasons they would have been down by 14 at half and then made the score look respectable coming back against guys who will be bagging groceries next weekend.

austin is on this team. if not i will seriously doubt the credibility of the front office. he is ON THIS TEAM. i like the dude, said it before and i'll say it again, poor man's desean jackson. he is quicker than he is fast but that will do in the nfl and in this offense. he get's separation from db's long enough to be open and to this point the dude hasn't dropped a thing, and that includes tough catches in traffic. love him, hope he is here for a long time.

hightower will be a steal man. dude is a grinder and he is faster than his 40 time suggests, just plays faster. he outran dudes that had angles on that td run, i mean, my man was DIGGING for that goal line. very impressed to see a skin have a td run like that when guys like reed and ray are on the field. opens some eyes for sure. love that addition. run him and torain until torain eventually breaks down (which we know is coming) and then move on from him. next man up. love helu too, that kid is a player.

overall i am excited for the season, not because i think they have a chance to really win anything, but i plan on seeing some good football finally. this team is on the rise, and if they keep working and continue to get younger, they will be a contender in the near future.

oh yeah, if blades didn't seal his fate by tweeting about begin gone when the skins signed fox, he did it last night with his slow *** play. that dude is terrible. he is decent on teams (though he gets penalties often) but in the base defense, no way. you could hear him on the broadcast call out where a run was going, then he got totally outclassed by the rb in the hole for a big gain. not good...

oh yeah, and i love how a few weeks ago when these experts on tv talked about the skins, they basically laughed and dismissed them. now that the qb's appear to be somewhat competent, the running game looks much improved and the defense is light years ahead of last season, they ain't saying much of anything. this morning on mike and mike golic and carter were like "huh, they may actually give some trouble to the other teams in the division." time will tell, but i always thought the notion that "unknown" means "terrible" was far fetched...

So who you got at QB? I think Beck will be named the starter. Also, my boy Markus White looked good last night. Hope they can find a spot for him.

Beck should be starting... period. Grossman is average and we already know that. Beck may be average, may be bad (looks at least average) or may be good. It's worth finding out what he is before going into next year's draft.

exactly, and not to mention it is easier to go to grossman off the bench if beck doesn't work out, as opposed to turning to the unknown in beck if you started grossman and he stunk the joint up. it just makes more sense to go with beck. and if he can look at least remotely as good as grossman in this offense with so little experience, he clearly has more upside than rex...

Happy that Markus White made the 53. Wonder who else besides Reggie Jones has been extended a practice squad spot. FWIW this would've been a perfect year for the skins to be on "Hard Knocks" lots of youth, a QB battle and some decent action all pre-season.

Honestly, no. To much youth, to many old vets and key position and like the saying goes, "when you have 2 QB's you really have none." I like the changes that are taking place. I think Shanny had this team in the right direction. He is in year two of getting his guys and getting rid of guys that don't fit. That said, there is a lot of talent in the NFC East. The skins still need to patch the Oline, get younger and better at WR, get a QB. (I don't beleive in Beck, but I could have my mind changed.) I think that we can surprise some teams, maybe even fight to finish 8-8, but I still see holes and youth which isn't a bad thing at this moment in the rebuilding process..

totally agree, but you said shanny HAD this team headed in the right direction. hope you mean he HAS them headed in the right direction. they are just too young, not enough depth at key areas, etc. 8-8 would be a MAJOR accomplishment. hopefully they can achieve that and then push for 10 wins and a playoff berth next season. sucks though to basically know the season is going nowhere before it even starts but such is the life of a redskins fan...

Remember, you want Marty 8-8 and not Zornado 8-8.

And if you watched this team long enough, then you should know there is a HUGE difference between the 2.
