Re: The Official Pittsburgh Steelers Thread
What do y'all think about the roster cuts? Everything seems to make sense, seems interest we're only carrying 4 receivers and 4 corners into the season though, along with 5 safeties, 5 running backs and 4 tight ends. Although I suppose Rainey could essentially be a wide receiver and I believe Robert Golden can play some corner?NFL: Pittsburgh Steelers

Re: The Official Pittsburgh Steelers Thread
Yeah, Rainey could definitely be a multiple thread RB/WR combo type player. And he, Dwyer, and Baron Batch certainly weren't making the decision who to keep if they had gone with only 4 HB's any easier as all 3 looked very good during the preseason
What's more concerning is the rash of serious knee injuries to our draft picks. DeDastro's seems like it wasn't quite as bad a previously feared though he'll still miss a good chunk of the season, though Spnece's sounds pretty bad. I actually missed the play where he got hurt because it happened right after I had to turn away from the game to do a FF draft.Steelers : IX, X, XIII, XIV, XL, XLIII

Re: The Official Pittsburgh Steelers Thread
I loved Jarvis Jones before the draft and I freakin love that he fell to Pittsburgh. He's gonna be a monster for us.
The Bell pick isn't bad either. He's big, he's strong and he's surprisingly athletic. I think it's a low risk, high reward kind of pick.
I don't know anything about Wheaton other than he's hella fast and has terrific hands. I like it.Comment

Yeah, I like all 3 picks so far. Need to go DLine and DB for the next few picks though.Steelers : IX, X, XIII, XIV, XL, XLIII

Landry Jones? Huge fan, would've loved it if they got Nassib instead but still excited. Big Ben is going downhill, Landry Jones can be the future.

Re: The Official Pittsburgh Steelers Thread
I don't mind the pick, as you had to get Ben a younger backup sometime. I'm indifferent about the draft so far, as I want to see these guys in practice/preseason.Comment

Re: The Official Pittsburgh Steelers Thread
I think they did a fairly good job in the draft, though I though they would've taken a DLineman earlier than they did. footballfan, I don't think Ben is going downhill at all. In fact, all 3 teams who drafted QB's in the 1st round in 2004 who didn't turn out to be busts drafted QB's in this draft. Steelers just needed a younger backup since Leftwich can't stay healthy and Batch has been in the league what, 15 years? I wonder if them bringing in Gradkowski and drafting Jones means that neither Batch nor Leftwich will be back next year.Steelers : IX, X, XIII, XIV, XL, XLIII

Re: The Official Pittsburgh Steelers Thread
I'm a little late but I love the Shamarko Thomas pick. He really does look like Bob Sanders lite. Landry Jones must have something the Steelers look like they can develop because I would've preferred Tyler Wilson as a young, project QB.Comment

Re: The Official Pittsburgh Steelers Thread
On paper, it seems like we had a decent draft....hopefully JJ gives us some kind of pash rush........hopefully Le'veon can plow in between the tackles...hopefully Wheaton can get open and actually catch the ball.....with our safeties being 100 years old, Shamarko was a much-needed addition.....didnt care much for the Landry Jones pick but i understand it....hopefully Justin Brown isnt Limas Sweed Jr.Steelers | Seminoles | A's | Rockets | Avalanche | Wildcats, Hoosiers | LiverpoolComment

Re: The Official Pittsburgh Steelers Thread
Well guys, it was a real M*A*S*H unit today.
Pouncey
Foote
LSH
all out for the year.
Cortez(ankle)
Sushi(hamstring)
also hurt.
I'm concerned with Ben taking a big shot this year, especially with emotions running high in CIN. Obviously you can't abandon the run game, but why not come out and sling it 40-45 times?Comment
