    Re: Official NY "IN THE COMPANY OF GIANTS" Thread

    I am not thrilled with this GM - his 'quick fix' Year 1 plan flopped, and his current plan makes no sense. Giants are trying to have it both ways (win now & rebuild at the same time), and it's not going to work. What they should do is say goodbye to Eli, use that money to fix the gaping holes on defense and the o-line, draft a QB, and sign a veteran mentor him.

    But it sounds like Gettleman is bringing Eli back which kills their cap.....great....it'll be another 5-11 / 6-10 season.

        Not surprised that Gettleman is running the Giants into the ground considering he’s the genius that let Norman go early by taking away the tag without having a viable replacement. Carolina hasn’t had much of a secondary since, go figure. I’m a Jets fan so I don’t really know the state of the Giants secondary without Landon Collins but apparently he learned nothing. At least Norman didn’t end up on a division rival. That’s not even including what he did to Steve Smith and Deangelo Williams.

        As a Panthers fan as well (I support them along with the Jets because they are the local team for me) I saw enough of Gettleman to see this coming and I think most other Panthers fans would agree, Williams definitely did.

          Every part of it sucks. I was 100% against trading him to begin with, but at least make it make sense. Don't pay the guy a ton of money and THEN trade him, don't make a big thing of going for another run with Eli, draft a RB with the #2 pick, and then trade OBJ and let Collins walk without even a tag the next season. Where is the foresight? I hate it, I hate it, I hate it. I feel better about the Knicks going forward than the Giants. Mara is approaching Dolan levels of dislike with me.

            Some of you guys might not know this either if you don’t know much about the Panthers so it’s worth adding that most of the credit for the success Carolina did have during the Gettleman era kind of belongs to Hurney. Hurney drafted Cam, Kuechly, Davis, Kalil (not the LT), Norman, Stewart, Johnson, He’s also the one that robbed the Bears in the Olsen trade, not Gettleman. Not saying Gettleman did nothing, but he definitely inherited a decent amount of the key pieces.

                  Not sure what Gettleman sees on his resume that’s so impressive, at least counting only his recent work. Pretty much inherited most of the key pieces, his teams had some good seasons but never actually got the job done in the end. 3 straight division titles and a 15-1 record is nice, but how much does it really mean when you have zero rings to show for it.

                    Makes no sense....why bring Eli back and take that cap hit if you're going to draft a QB at 6????? Didn't Gettleman say he wants to win now? If you want to win now, get players who can help now (like a bona fide pass rusher).

                    This is exactly how i felt;

                        He looks poised in the pocket, and has made some nice throws, but it is pre-season. If the Giants get off to bad start (2-4), we will see him.

                          I feel much better about him taking over after watching him play. Crazy thing he should only get better the more he plays. Future looks bright with him and Saquon

                            Not optimistic about the Giants this season. Really worried about the defense.

                            6 or 7 wins at the most.

                                I hope the pass rush is upgraded because without that our defense is average at best.

                                I also hope they don’t run poor Saquon into the ground.
