re: Official NY "IN THE COMPANY OF GIANTS" Thread

I said at the start of the year, with all of the injuries: if we're gonna have a good season, Eli needs to step up and have the season we all know he can have.

He's definitely done that so far, and I don't see that stopping. While the Giants play some great teams towards the end of the season, they aren't particularly good against the pass. I really think they need to look to Nicks more. He makes great plays (90% of the time) but they've spent too much time away from him. When they do go to him, they're golden. Remember that terrible Seahawks game? Their best drive was at the end of the first half, when they targeted Nicks twice and got two huge gains, including a TD. Eli only threw him one ball the rest of the game.

I'm feeling good about this week. The D-Line should kill Brady just like it did in the Super Bowl, and if Amukamara comes back I really think it will dynamically change our secondary,

Well the guys got it done yesterday. It was another edge-of-the-seat nail biter but it was a W. Eli is stepping up when we need him. Didn't like that int he threw in the end zone but it wasn't a drastic OMG WHY O WHY kinda deal. The play was there the throw was just a tad bit to short. Funny thing is I kinda expect the Giants to almost sweep the remaining games. Seems like they get off going up against the big time teams. Giants are that kind of team. They get up for the big games and sleep through the scrubs.

re: Official NY "IN THE COMPANY OF GIANTS" Thread

Week 11 going against the Packers should be torture again this weekend but I'll be watching and hoping to see some progress from our young future core guys like Amuka JPP and Cruz. Hope Eli continues his elite play. On a team where all you need to do is key on the pass, Eli is playing fantastic. Hes taken the next step by force although I'd argue he's had this in him ever since the superbowl run. It just clicked for him that year.

I've spent most of monday night ranting to felloew Giants fans and NFL fans about how this team had no drive or heart. And In retrospect I dont think its the case. I really didnt take into account how serious our injuries have killed the season. This year at one point or another we've lost

Terell Thomas, John Goff, Dom Hixon, Osi, Tuck, Mario, Hakeem, Bradshaw, Snee, Beatty, Boley, Bass, and even more.

We're spread too thin especially on defense where if your weak at one spot youll get torched at that spot. The guys look tired, inexperienced because the've been playing every down due to injuries or they are rookies.

I think its time we put this season into perspective and not assume be belonged in the playoffs from the get go and take it one week at a time at hope for the best. Getting blown out by NO shouldnt hurt since theyre at more or less 110% just as GB will be while we are probably somewhere around 53%.

Ill be watching the rest of the way as a guy looking to next year and hoping for the best this year instead of assuming we'll win games because we should.

As long as we don't have to play all the elite teams in order like we had to late this year we might be ok but that is a brutal schedule..

              SUPER BOWL CHAMPIONS!

A week later and it still hasn't wore off. Man this is going to be a good year.. I been ordering Giant gear left and right.

I'm hoping we can get an MLB in the draft. A.Highsmith or Burfict would be perfect if they fall to us at the end of the first and maybe some Olineman to groom..

re: Official NY "IN THE COMPANY OF GIANTS" Thread

My posts in this thread are gold looking back. Man if I only knew how it was gonna end.

Some guys who have blown me away this season

Kevin Boothe - I can't say enough about him. Always saw him as a fringe guy but he has played himself into the starting left guard spot after this season. He is strong and dependable. He locked down Vince Wilfork all game long. He is tall and his arms are long to frustrate defensive tackles. We better sign him to a deal before he realizes how good he really is.

Aaron Ross - I almost murdered this guy with the dissapointment he has been so far. But he turned it on in the second half and in the playoffs. He became close to lock down. Seriously. I dont count on resigning him but I wouldnt be too mad if we brought him back for cheap, unless Terrell isnt brought back. I'd be livid lol

Jason Pierre Paul - I was excited for the man after a 4.5 sack year. He is a physical freakshow and in his second year became an Elite pass rusher top 5 in the league at his position. Plays the run so well for a second year DE. A spot where the young guys simply want sacks. He is all world. Jerry Reese is a scouting wizard.

Victor Cruz - I mean we all saw the Jets preseason game but no one could have predicted this in his second season. Im not too excited about him until I see it again. He wont be a surprise to anyone this year, and we will see how the fame affects him. I dont expect him to become terrible but dont be surprised at a number dip next year. He wont be surprising anyone.

Jacquian Williams - No one expected much from him. ESPN's draft coverage didnt even have notes on the guy when the Giants took him in the 6th round. Draft gem. The kid is fast as hell, and has a motor that doesnt stop. If he gets stronger and more comfortable at his spot, he can become one of the more dynamic linebackers in the league. He and Boley on pas downs has been money at the linebacker spot.

Linval Joeseph - Quietly proved to be a fantastic run stuffer and will only get better from here. He also had some great moments with qb pressures as well. I look for him and Marvin Austin to become staples in the middle for us in a year or two. Canty is great but he wont be here for too much longer.

Henry Hynoski - I was sad when Madison Hedgecock had to retire at a young age. THis man out of Pitt did more than expected and proved to be a plug at FB but also a decent passing option for 5-6 yards.

Jake Ballard - Its really something that he was able to erase Kevin Boss from our memories so quickly as he had a better year than any of Boss'. I am very excited for him but sad that he is out for a long long time after such fantastic year.

Chase Blackburn - Talk about earning your spot on the team back. This guy made a career with us as a hard working special teamer who played sparingly on the defense. Well his signing late in the year propelled us to the lombardi. He is always in the right spot at the right time and I love him for it.

The Usual Suspects - Hakeem Nicks, Eli Manning, Corey Webster, Osi, and Bradshaw. They all did what I expected. Bradshaw had a so so year but he was hurt. These guys are great. Nothing to be said about them really.

                Disappointments

Justin Tuck - His nagging injuries get him every year. I look for him to be 100% next year and go HAM. He was great in the SB but he played obviously hurt. But a disappointing year for him became a superbowl year.
He brought the heat in the SB.

Greg Jones - I thought he would do more. With injuries he was put out there and quickly put back on the bench. With Goff coming back, Blackburn likely returning, he may be a roster casualty.

Prince Amukamara - I know he got lit up when he first came back. But did you notice how he was never picked on in the playoffs? And he was in a lot more than anyone realized. A disappointing year but a fantastic outlook. Look for him to comeback strong next year.

Dom Hixon - Why oh why did his ACL tear on his TD catch against St Louis? He was primed for a break out year. I look for him to become our KR again if he can make the team. But I dont think he will. Cruz, Nicks, Jernnigan, Barden, Thomas. Maybe he can come in and play Manningham's role if the team doesnt pick up the guy I want to replace him.

Jerrel Jernigan - I didnt like too much about his season. He showed nice sparks on some KRs (RIP Hixon's giants career) but he looked slow on the offense. He needs an offseason to learn.

Kareem Mckenzie - My favorite olinemen played the worst football I have ever seen at his position. HE was blown off the ball FAR too often. He is good as gone. He joins O'hara and Seubert as Giants grandpa oline casualties. Snee better watch his back. You too Diehl!

Brandon Jacobs - He had opportunities to prove he was a starter with Bradshaw out and he didnt get it done. When he gets in space its great, but he tries to force it too often. While Bradshaw is scrappy and creative, Jacobs is more brick and lucky. Sick of seeing him have 2.2 YPC games. Hes good as gone.

                Offseason Outlook:

Cuts (guys we need to actually cut, not just let contracts expire)

Brandon Jacobs - Its time. 4.9 mil due? Not a 4.9 mil back

Will Blackmon - He is terrible at everything. Fill in guy on injury deprived teams

Danny Ware - I loved him when Reese talked him up, hated him once I saw him run. He is no Derrick Ward. We need a guy like Ward was 5 10, 230 pounds faster than anyone realizes. Danny is a bum.

Mark Clayton - Why is he taking up a roster spot? Terrible awareness for a veteran.

Kareem Mckenzie - Gotta go. His career is about to die. I love him, send him into the canyon of grandpa Giants o linemen.

Guys we need to trade for assets:

Osi - I love him, but he's not happy and he'll make it known soon enough. His stock is up, if we can get a 1st then great! Pick up a young DE like Whitney Mercilus from Illinois. I love what he does.

                Thats it for that lol.

And finally guys I want to pick up in the Draft or free agency: (Realistic/Dream)

Steve Smith (PHI) - I want him back and I want him for cheap. He could do fantastic back in NY. Realistic

John Carlson (Seattle) - He could be a great pass option for Eli and a very cheap price. People talk about Finely? THe guy is gonna demand 8 mil+ a season. Not a chance there.

Orson Charles (Georgia) - If we stick to the draft instead for TE I want this kid form Georgia over Dwayne Allen at Clemson. Charles is fast and athletically gifted. He could be a poor man's Finely. I like him alot.

LaMichael James (Oregon) or Chris Polk (Washington)- I want a dynamic RB who can do it all. Polk is a more realistic option but James' explosiveness would be welcomed in NY. Instant upgrade in the return game. Not sure he can run in this offense just yet but he is very athletic. Can become similar to Shady McCoy in Philly. I want a Shady McCoy in NY.

Case Kennum (Houston) - We have Eli I know. But Case could be a long term project on the team. I want a good back up who can make all the throws and is young and very mature. David Carr is nice but Kase has more upside and would be a 5-6th round pick up.

Alshon Jeffery (South Carolina) - If by some miracle he slips to us at the end of the second round, not a chance in hell we let him go. I dont care who is on our board. This man is an athletic monster and can give us an amazing size advantage that we havent had since Plaxico played for us. He could also line up at TE in pass situations.

Bruce Irvin (West Virginia) - Tall rangey outside linebacker with speed. I want to be faster at every position. He can become a beast in the league and I want him. I want a bunch of trees running around on defense lol. TEs have abused us too often!

Mike Adams (Ohio State) - Big muther****ing offensive tackles get me excited. We need this guy to lock down the left tackle spot for a decade of dominance. If he has lateral speed and quickness, he will be a force to be reckoned with. If we grab him, we move Beatty to the right to compete with Brewster and we are set. I feel that Reese is sold on Brewster and will have him play the right and Beatty the left so this pick porbably wont happen. But Im sick of plug in left tackles. I want the guy!

Vontaze Burfict (Arizona St.) - Freak of nature linebacker with a mean mean streak. Thats two means lol. We need some nasty on the defense and he can be the guy. Unless the Ravens mess it up for us.

Donte Hightower (Alabama) - Losing steam in the first round projections. He is dependable, and solid. Fast and hard hitting. Smart instincts and mean streak. I would love him to be on the squad somewhere. May be put a strong side backer as Kiwi may go back to the D line with Osi probably moving on.

Laron Landry (Washington Redskins) - Free agent coming of yet another injury. If we can, by some freak miracle, pick him up for 4 mil a year, to play Grant's spot as the third Safety, or even haven Rolle play up and have him and Kenny sit back, I would die from the pure joy and excitement. He is a mean man who would make our defense so much scarier and stout. (Very unrealistic lol)

Matt Forte (Chicago Bears) - I honestly just have a man crush on this guy. Him in a Giants uni? See above (Unrealistic)

Darren McFadden (Oakland Raiders) - See above (No freaking chance in hell). Maybe the emergence of Bush and McFadden's chronic injuries force the Raiders hand (You guys can take Osi for him!)

So based on last years FA movements the Giants are due at least 2 compensatory draft picks. 4th and maybe 6th. Additionally I forsee a trade of Osi for a 2nd rounder.

                My dream draft:
1st Vontaze Berfict LB Arizona St
2nd Alshon Jeffery WR South Carolina
2nd Mike Adams OT Ohio State
                3rd Orson Charles TE Georgia
4th Bruce Irvin LB West Virginia
4th Cyrus Gray RB Texas A&M
                5th Jake Bequette DE Arkansas
                6th Case Keenum QB Houston
                6th Cliff Harris CB Oregon
7th Greg Zuerlien K Missouri Western State

That draft is a little ambitious as so many things would have to fall in place. But tell me that doesont just look orgasmic?

Well I've written far too much this afternoon lmao.

Man no activity in this thread? Giants basically drafting according to what they lost. I'm not even going to question Reese, definitely beyond my lowly skills to question him. I'll just sit back and robotically nod "yes" to any and everything he picks.

Haha! I hear you on that one man.. I was doing the same exact thing with every draft pick even though he passed on a few players I would have loved to have on the team. I'm just going to trust what they do because it's been working for us. I really like the R.Randle pick.. That was a great pick.. D.Wilson is going to do big things for us too..

Word. Superbowl?!?!? I'm surprised Eli stayed alive last year with the guys up front. Seems to me the run blocking part of the playbook was written like this:

I'm just hoping someone can take D.Bass spot eventually.. The runblocking looked so much better when he was out of the lineup for those few games.. I really hope Deihl or Beatty can replace McKenzie on that right side.. I'm pretty much satisfied with everything else..

How did you feel about the K.Rivers pick up? If he can stay on the field he'll definitely strengthen up our LB core.. We'll see..

I want to see what Brewster can do at the right spot. I really think K Booth deserves a shot at the left guard (Snee is on the right...right?). Dehl needs to be the sub at this point in his career. He certainly can't pass block as a tackle anymore and he pushes nobody. I watched some games of Beatty since the season ended and he isn't bad in pass protection when his first step is fast. But he gets no push whatsoever on run blocking. And Bass is nothing spectacular either. If he didnt take a pay cut Id be calling for his release.

I want to see LT Beatty LG Boothe C Bass(by default I guess) RG Snee(if only Snee's name started with a B lol) and RT Brewster. I hope Mosley can transition to guard and compete with Peitrus to be a future starter or at least asset. Like Linebacker I hope we finally adress Oline in the first two rounds next year.

And I'm excited for Rivers so long as he is healthy and can learn the playbook fast. He is an athletic linebacker so I expect him to get in alot against the Eagles but if Fewell sticks to this 4 2 5, I see him spending alot of time on the sideline. Jaquain Williams is a rotation guy who gets alot of burn too, probably at River's position. If Boley kicks in to MLB, Rivers goes strongside and Williams weakside as rotation I could see it working. Kiwi would be in on first and second down as the strong side. There are alot of options at linebacker. I feel like the Giants are building a rotational defense at all three levels.

Am I the only one worried that C Webster is playing his last year here? Money is getting tight and Terrel and Amukamara will be fighting to start this year. The Giants may be looking to move Webbs money to Cruz Nicks JPP.

C Web, Canty, and Kenny Phillips may be looking at their last seasons on this team. Rolle the year after.
