Yep. But these early struggles were to be expected. Switching to the 3-4 with sooo much new talent. I'll give it a couple of games before I start to critically look at it. But the Offense looked pretty good w/o Gore. Its gunna be a fun season IMO.

I wish we could play the Raiders every day. lol. Alex Smith has looked good so far. Just threw a TD. Got a nice pass to Davis. Defense has looked improved. Although it is against the Raiders, so take it with a grain of salt. All Star so far in the game: Joe Nedney.

Just saw Alex Smith's highlights of the game vs. Raiders. His throws are improved; they no longer are too short where the recievers have to bend way down just to catch them. He is looking decent so far. Vernon looks improved as well. But it is only preseason, and highlights against the Raiders.

How has P-Willie looked thus far?

Smith continues to show he's improving from last year; Lelie looked good and if he stays as our #3 alongside Jackson Battle and Davis, we'll have a promising supporting cast to go alongside Gore. Gilmore also looked pretty good out there for the potential #4 spot.

Patrick Willis has been exciting to watch, the guy simply flies around the field. We did however get shredded up by Culpepper regardless of who was out there.

It is only preseason, but the Raiders pass defense was among the best in the league last year. It's encouraging to see some of the throws Alex is making. He looks calm in the pocket and very accurate. Hopefully he can carry that over when the games start for real.

I'm still not impressed with the defense. Tackling has been a problem so far and that 8 minute touchdown drive was Lamont Jordan running all over the defense. Hopefully they can straighten these things out before the season starts.

I think most of that drive was against the second team. And we still have some starters sitting. Still, it is the Raiders, and they shouldn't move the ball.

I didn't get to watch the game, but I went to NFL.com and saw Alex Smith highlights. He is looking good. Just the improvement from his rookie year to his sophmore season was like watching two different QB's. I am expecting a lot more from him this year. Plus he has talent around him now as well.

Looks like Patrick Willis is moving into the starting lineup taking the place of Moore at weakside linebacker and will be an every down player. This is earlier than I expected, but if anyone is capable on the 9ers, it's Willis.

Cbs.sportsline.com did their annual camp tour of 9ers camp. Lots of good info, but my personal favorite part.

Fast forward to the 49ers and this past offseason. Nedney and backup quarterback Trent Dilfer compared prank notes and decided star young quarterback Alex Smith needed the old blue powder treatment. So they sprinkled the stuff ... in Smith's jockstrap. The prank worked, giving new meaning to the phrase blue ... oh, never mind.

Will I be jumping the gun too early if I get a Patrick Willis jersey? The guy looks to be a great 49er for quite some time. Oh and his college jersey # was 49....er!

Joe Staley has been named the starting right tackle by Nolan. Not sure if it's simply a test for the last preseason game or what. Harris has been on the hotseat for quite a while now

finally, thank you Coach Nolan. Kwame Harris was too much of a liability, he would average two holding calls a game it seemed. Haha.
